<div class="bbWrapper">Wow!<br /> <br /> Just tried playing my &#039;76 strat for the first time in over a year. Lasted all of 3 minutes. It&#039;s got EmG&#039;s in it, but was really uncomfortable to grip.<br /> <br /> Back in the closet she goes. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /></div>

I have played many, liked none. They just don&#039;t feel right to me...I can&#039;t play anything without relearning - and at that it ends up being uncomfortable and sloppy. I can pick up my Gibson, Ibanez and of course my favorite <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /> (JP6), and feel right at home. It sorta bugs me that whenever I go into a new music store, the guitars on the wall are OVERWELMINGLY Fender. I just don&#039;t get it.....I don&#039;t....<br /> <br /> MikeVt</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I might see where you&#039;re coming from with regards to the neck. Sometimes it can feel a littly sterile to me. The vintage style necks are pretty good though. If they&#039;re a little thicker with a rounder radius they&#039;re more inviting to me. The rolled edges on the new American series is good.<br /> <br /> But the Strat body with it&#039;s contours is probably the most comfortable style of body out there. It&#039;s so good it&#039;s been over done IMO. Those body contours were a good idea. <br /> <br /> Having said that, the neck on my EVH is at more inviting and comfortable to play than anything of Fender&#039;s that I&#039;ve played. <br /> <br /> Fender&#039;s history speaks for itself that&#039;s for sure. But what I don&#039;t get is the refusal to move into the future.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">BTW I bought that strat brand spanking new from VALLEY ARTS GUITAR CENTER back in the day. This was before GC started to take over the universe.<br /> <br /> Can anyone confirm if Dudley Gimple (aka D. Gimp) worked there then. I bleeb he did. Luke and Carlton used to hang out there a lot.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Yes Dudley(my sen sei) did work there. I know for a fact he used to work on Larry Carltons guitars, so most likely he worked on Lukes as well. It could be how Luke came to MM...I don&#039;t know, but maybe BP could clarify this.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I&#039;ve tried my Strat twice since I got my JP6, and it felt like my hands were glued to the neck. The finish on the neck is a real speed reducer. <br /> <br /> <br /> The facination with Strats for me has always been the tone on the single coil neck pickup thru an old tube bassman amp ala SRV. Nothing sounds like that (I haven&#039;t tried any of the single coil EBMM guitars yet, but I&#039;m thinking about it.<img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" /> <br /> <br /> &gt;^..^&lt;</div>

<div class="bbWrapper"><blockquote data-attributes="" data-quote="jongitarz" data-source="" class="bbCodeBlock bbCodeBlock--expandable bbCodeBlock--quote js-expandWatch"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-title"> jongitarz said: </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-content"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandContent js-expandContent "> Yes Dudley(my sen sei) did work there. It was originally a hard tail. Not an easy task I imagine. Had to rout out the guitar.</div>

The Strat sound is unique, and I do like it. I guess I just wish it came with a different guitar <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f609.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=";)" title="Wink ;)" data-smilie="2"data-shortname=";)" /> I never really had anything against the body - and true, it is comfortable. It&#039;s the neck I hate.<br /> <br /> MikeVt</div>

The problem is they are so inconsistent - you have to go through 100 just to get one that plays and sounds right, if you&#039;re lucky. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" /></div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Strats are good guitars and their history speaks for themselves, but i get bored very quickly with them..........Thats something that never happens to me with EBMM`s!!!!!!!</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">It&#039;s been said on this board before but if you want strat sounds and eb everything else, get an ALBERT.<br /> <br /> Might have to take mine out today, now dat I think of it.</div>

EBMM are made a lot better and have their own sound, which is great, but sometimes only the genuine article will do - sorry <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f631.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":o" title="Eek! :o" data-smilie="9"data-shortname=":o" /></div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Wouldnt touch a Fender with a bargepole. In fact, I am proud to be &#039;Fender free&#039;. That said I like my Les Paul every now and again.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">i would however use a fender for a bargepole <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f61b.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":p" title="Stick out tongue :p" data-smilie="7"data-shortname=":p" /></div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I&#039;ve been trying to get my cousin&#039;s band more into EBMM stuff, the bassist now plays a StingRay 5, but the guitarists use Fens and Gibbys - the excuse they give me is that they don&#039;t have the coin to drop on an EB. I can&#039;t fault them for that, but it&#039;s tough playing a Strat onstage when I guest guitar with them - not my style axe at all! <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f641.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":(" title="Frown :(" data-smilie="3"data-shortname=":(" /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Enjoy <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /> <br /> <script class="js-extraPhrases" type="application/json"> { "lightbox_close": "Close", "lightbox_next": "Next", "lightbox_previous": "Previous", "lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded.
