With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, my wife and I have been talking a lot about her diagnosis last year and recovery. To update everyone, my wife is still cancer free. The only thing left is for her to have is re-construction surgery but unfortunately, my insurance has a $5,000.00 out of pocket deductible on all medical stuff before they pay for anything. So that will have to wait until my truck is paid off in 2 years and then my bank will give me a loan for the surgery. But here are the positives. At last years Relay for Life, the Relay for Life people were very impressed with our story and the outpouring from so many people who either prayed for us or did things to go out of their way to help us. As a result, they asked my wife to join their Relay for Life planning committee to which she accepted. She, as well as the other committee members are now planning next years relay. Some pretty big things should be happening too if everything goes according to plan.

When the committee heard of my wifes story, they were also really touched too by what Sterling did for our family with the Breast Cancer Awareness bass. With this upcoming relay, we have some pretty big plans for that bass to be used as well as at a few other events. It really has opened up some amazing doors to share our story with others but also help raise awareness and funds to help find a cure! Because of that, I just wanted to say thank you again to Big Poppa and everyone who donated to our Relay for Life team and to those who simply prayed for us or kept us in your thoughts. This past year and a half has been a whirlwind of ups and downs but we have made it through and now continue the fight for a cure. The Lord has been good to us!
Thanks again everyone,
Jay

Jay,
I'm not a praying man so my thought and best wishes are with you and your mate.

I don't know what I would do without my wife of 14 years, she is my world.

I think that many of us here know what you do and how you do it. And more than a few of us have good reasons to say, "Thank you, Sterling!" I don't do it often enough - mostly because I don't want to embarrass you in public. (Well, not all the time, anyway.)

You're a good man with a big heart and uncommonly excellent advice about all kinds of things.

So I'll just tag along on Jay's thread and say it today: thank you, Sterling Ball.

And Jay, I am so glad to hear things are going well for you guys. Keep it up!

Thank you I have to admit with the beating Ive been getting here lately that I appreciated this.

Sterling, I think you get a lot of love on here.....I think there are many of us who see how benevolent you can be.

Jay..... 50 people X $100 = the deductible is covered.... I am now back in a situation where I can help a bit. count me in

Jaydawg - what a fantastic post. All the way around. I'm glad to hear your wife is cancer free. Keep it going.

BP - much of this goes without saying. However, every so often we just have to say it. For me, your instruments provide food for my soul, your knowledge and wisdom food for my mind and spirit, and your recipes food for my pellet smoker and body (that spatchcock chicken is killer). Now I have to go home and smoke something.

Seriously, if we could start a fund, I would be willing to help as well. I'm not sure that I could commit to 100 dollars, but I could contribute. I would be more than willing to help with this cause.

I hate hearing this. I use your basses for a few reasons:

1. The quality is unreal.
2. The sound is amazing.
3. The prices are reasonable.

Bust most importantly, you are a good guy trying to make an honest living. You help those in need and you treat your workers and your customers with respect.

Thank you for being a good guy and making great basses, Sterling.

Wow, thank you for that offer. I don't know what to say. I was actually just putting that part in to let others know where she is at in her recovery but thank you very much for that.

BP, I have read a lot of the negative things said about you and it angers me every time. A lot of those people simply have no clue. They are probably unaware of the Casey Lee Ball Foundation and all you have done for it, as well as your son, and countless others. They are also probably unaware of your kindness towards my family and also towards Erin as well. The thing that gets me is they get so angry over little things. They can't get a certain color or 19mm spacing yet and they take it personal when they have no idea what it takes to run a business successfully or have no idea the money and time it takes to do all of the extra stuff. I have only been a member of this forum for around a year and a half but in that time I have learned a ton about not only EBMM products but bass building in general and many other things. I also love my Music Man basses. They are simply the best I have ever played and I love everything about them from the tones, to the feel, to the craftsmanship, and so many more things. Again BP, thank you for all you have done. Even though we have never met, my family considers you a friend!

And to everyone else who has posted, again, thank you all for the kind wishes, thoughts and prayers.

I've got a Benjamin for a fellow Baller in need... I know how bad the bills can get.. I still have them myself. But if $100 will save a life count me in.

Jay - I'm so glad things continue on a positive path for you and your wife. Good thoughts and prays from me and my family. And if you put the word out, I'm there to help too.

Sterling - you rock. There isn't another bass on the planet that forces me to play better every day like your basses do. There isn't a site on the web that I visit damn near every day to see what other good people have to say (and I just skip the butthead-type threads). Thank you for doing all the other things that you do for those who are in need. It's inspiring.

I could not agree more!
Thank you for the things you do and for this place. Is there anything we could do to make you feel better here again?

(besides maybe shutting up that is ;))

All the best to your wife and family. Good vibes coming your way!!!

Its because of the communal spirit of this forum that i'm so proud to be a part of it. I've been here a few years now and without getting into specifics, i've seen some amazing things done for some amazing people... some truly beautiful gestures. Sometimes even giving a little can mean so much. Helps me keep some faith in humanity.
