Hi guys.
Last week I changed the strings on my jp, and since they didn't have any EB's I took D'addario strings.
Never really liked them but got them anyway.
The problem is that my guitar won't stay in tune.
Even if I don't do bendings, it's just crazy.
And I don't understand why, even if I prefer ernie ball strings I don't think d'addario strings should cause any problem.
What could it be?
could it be that since I took off all the strings to polish the fretboard now I need to adjust the truss rod a bit?
how do I check if the neck is straight or if the truss rod need adjusting?
thanks!

are the tuning pegs feel really loose??? use a screw driver at the end of the pegs to tighten them up a bit.... you should be ok, what gauge you use???

I suggest don't touch anything you don't know like the truss rod unless you know what your doing, take the guitar to a guitar tech to have him take a look at it, but the tuning problem has nothing to do really with the truss rod, you just need to tighten the screws at the end of the pegs(Tuners).... Good Luck!

From 10's i went back to 9's but try givin the crews a slight turn to tighten them, then if that dont work take it to a guitar tech or Contact ernie ball support..

I say get some Slinkys and try again before making any adjustments.

The strings may just be stretching.

yea they need to settle first, but that just takes a day, did you just re-string your guitar?

infact I was waiting for the slinkys to arrive before going to the tech.
If they haven't arriver before tomorrow I'll go somewere else to get them.
anyway, now I've loosened the blockers on the pegs, then re-blocked them and re-tuned.
now let's see how it goes

I Know The Tuners Are Locking Tuners Correct Me If I'm Wrong Please, But How Do You Re-String Do You Wrap The Strings Around Well? Maybe The Strings Are Slipping Out..... Can You Send Pictures Of It, Maybe It May Tell More If We See.

no, at least a week has past.
I usually play for 4 hours a day so usually after an hour or so the strings were completely ready to roll.
I change strings every 20 days so if d'addarios need 2 weeks to adjust they're just not right for me :p

.....hmmmm what i would say it wrap high-E B G D
Around Very Well Casuse I Think Thats Why Its Slippin out, just because its locking tuners it dont mean to not wrap the string around well, they still slip out, well for me.

the low-E A is fine to keep like that but i think the others need some better work, ill post mine in a sec.

hmmm, that's interesting actually, because I've always thought that the shorter the better.
when i got the guitar it had been stringed like this by the EBMM guys so I continued stringing it like that
anyway now it does feel quite a lot better, the strings a firmer and stayes in tune too.
but I'll continue playing a little more to be shure

very well, as soon as I get new strings I'll try it out, even though I never have to tune usually.
thanks ;)

maybe the problem is solved.
I've just been playing metropolis pt1, overture 1928, strange deja vu, fatal tragedy and erotomania all in a row and the tuning is perfect except for the low E that just went a little flat, but very very slightly.
probably I got something wrong while I was putting the new strings on

Dude- I think that's too many winds around the post.

With the locking tuners you don't need to wrap at all. I pull the strings tight, then lock them. There's always less than one wind- usually it's just the locked string turned 90-180 degrees, like in Phazer's pics.

The less winds on the post, the more it'll stay in tune. With the locking tuners there can be no coils, so not holding any tension.
