thats ridiculous there are people sleeping in the streets... Im looking at that and just thinking this is America and we cant do anything to help them the greatest nation.

Urwords...

They will get to them. The levee walls are broken and water is *still* pouring into the Big Easy. The roads that might be less submerged are probably blocked by debris. There must be $100 billion in damage along the Gulf Coast.

The rescue workers can't just go rushing in there, unfortunately. They need to ensure their own safety, and they need to bring an astonishing amount of supplies with them if they want to help anyone that they might find.

Right now, helicopters are about the only viable option in a lot of places, and you can't fit many people on a helicopter.

It's amazing how helpless we all feel when we realize that we may not be able to get help to many people for a few days more. :(

This hurricane is also affecting us after it has passed. Of course the flooding and destruction is still there and everyone involved in it is in my prayers, but it's also caused the rationing of gas. Since New Orleans is where the places around here get gas (don't know if it's the same everywhere else) and now we have to get it from Texas. It's caused it to go up to about $3.29 over here and near $6 in Atlanta. There's no guarantee that they'll come back down either. It makes it hard on a brotha to buy a new GK rig with these gas prices. Oh well. If someone will actually buy my Fernandes, then i'll be in business. :D

Well, I'd say what really matters is that you & your family were OK. After that, hell yes.. protect your guitars! Keep 'em on high ground!

I remember that storm very well. It took me 3.5 hours to get home from my office.. which is normally about a 15 minute commute. I had to keep trying alternate routes to find roads that were not submerged.. so did the rest of the folks in the county, so there we all were.. in gridlocks everywhere.
