ok, so for starters, I had the pleasure of watching Phil Keaggy do an acoustic set last night....... PLEASE do a google/you tube search for Keaggy and especially his soloacoustic stuff, absolute virtuoso... anywho, THEN I had the opportunity to play a song with Keaggy as he came on stage with us (Brian Doerksen) and played the last tune of the set.... THEN, there was a 'jam' with Keaggy, a drummer namedZoro, and Adam Nitti on bass. Again, Keaggy freaked out on a Les Paul and was just amazing to watch.

So, where does the Bongo come in?? Well, of course that's what i was playing for our set but also, after the jam I went to talk to Adam for a bit. He and an attendee were standing there talking and so I walk up to introduce myself and immediately they both say, 'hey, that Bongo sounded great man, really deep and the definition was awesome"

yes, yes it was

:D

and in all seriousness GO FIND SOME KEAGGY!!!! he'll blow your mind, such an amazing guy.

I missed the opportunity to see Phil when he was playing here in Evansville about 30 seconds from my store. I couldn't get off work.

I called the fellow in charge of the show to see if Phil could come by but it wouldn't happen. He told me I could poke in after I got off work though for a little bit so I did. Now I can honestly say "Yes, I have seen Phil Keaggy live, but only for about five minutes." It was an awesome five minutes :)

I love seeing Phil's live acoustic show. His guitar playing and his voice are just great. For those not familiar, Phil is one of the best at looping phrases and creating these layered progressions that just take on this whole orchestral theme.

He artfully uses alternate tunings and some capo action along with a percussive approach and terrific songwriting.

Very cool you got to jam with him.

Cool you still got the tape wounds on er?

nah... I had to put rounds back on

I still have the tapes kickin' it here so, someday they'll make their way back on. :D

and yes, Phil is just an amazing guy, and the extra bonus was meeting Jim Olson as well (Olson guitars) Brian flew Jim and his wife out to thank Jim publicly for all of the support he's given artists as well as building amazing instruments and also thank Jim's wife for letting her husband do what he does, very cool moment.
