just wondering when cleaning with steel wool do you go againt the grain or with the grain, id think with, but going with it would rub over the frets??

Better to go with the grain where possible, but up against the frets you have to go the other way. Be gentle. As someone already mentioned, it's a good opportunity to buff the frets while you're at it.

Oh, and careful not to let the steel wool shavings get into your pickups and electronics. You can either mask it off or remove the neck.

Grab a magnet from your fridge and wrap the steel wool around it. It will keep the little steel wool bits from getting on your pickups.

Thats a Great idea!

About rosewood necks and BC oil / wax.
If I recall correctly, Jon said that they now use / recommend the BC treatment for the rosewood too.
Also, was not BP's rosewood 20th finished in oil wax?
