Hey Gang, looks like Kirk has finally upgraded his main axe :p

seriously though its good to see someone like him playing around with a Music Man guitar, even though he put EMG's into it :D

someone posted this a little while ago. very cool indeed but ASAIK he's real happy with his ESP.

the cool thing is that guys like Kirk can play anything they want. and maybe its not his main axe but its still rad that he appreciates the awesomeness of the MM :)

I have the Dream Theater Official Bootleg DVD of the Romania show during the 6DOIT tour and as extra footage it shows them playing Mexico City. During that show they play Pull Me Under and go into Master Of Puppets and end back in Pull Me Under. Petrucci is playing a guitar just like the one Kirk has. It's a Mystic Dream with piezo but no matching headstock loaded with EMG's. He nails the Master Of Puppets Tone with it!

I love those pickups. I just bought a Steve's Special and put it in my old San Dimas Charvel. I wanted it to sound like the Petrucci, which is pretty much perfect in tone. Now the Charvel is great. Not quite as good a tone as the Petrucci, but great.

I've always wondered what the appeal of all those ESP's is- perhaps the custom shop is the balls, but every ESP I've played was "meh"

Aren't custom ESPs like 8000$ ? I remember seeing a few that were around 9500$ and I pretty much cried. They didn't look anything special that you COULDN'T get at any other place, (for much less, no doubt).

Maybe JP gave him the one he used on the Official Bootleg?

Those are limited run signatures that ESP is milking that cost that much. A true Custom ordered ESP will run you around $3k but it will talk a year or more to make and something will be wrong with it when it arrives LOL.
