Can't wait to see those double neck beauties! :)

But I don't think I could justify one just to play my rendition of Xanadu/Stairway for the wife and kid. :D Those are going to be really special.

BP, the slow trickle of news out of the BFR line is the ultimate "wait until they announce something new before you buy!" killer... First it was BFRs... then the new colors... then the new models... and now more and more... I'll never know when to take the plunge! (maybe when my bank account says it's ok)

Also, a lot of us have been clamoring for a "natural" finish JP, and the koa is the closest yet! Woooo!!

Those must be right ahead of the doubleneck JP models in Stratus Blue Sparkle.... :D

I like both of the Koa JP's but I think the one with gold hardware just absolutely kills! Dargin, BP, whoever, if you guys offer this, I'm definitely ordering one, especially if it has gold hardware. Can't wait to see if these will be offered. Another great job from the MM team.

^^ They never cease to amaze.
I love the fact that I've found a company that can produce the ergonomics of an AL, the versatility of a Silo, the natural beauty of these Koa guitars and the Rosewood ASS, and the sheer brashness of Mr. Horsepower and the global warming guitar.
Something for everyone, even knuckleheads like us.

What's the tonal quality of the koa anyway? compared to something like basswood?

As a tonewood, Koa is quite similar to Mahogany. That's my experience with guitars that have Koa bodies rather than Koa tops like the BFR shown here. I will make a wild guess and conjecture that the reason there is an ebony board is to compensate for the darker tonal quality of Koa vs. maple.

Another suggestion for you at MM if you want to experiment....

My dream BFR....

Spalted maple top, with ebony board... you see.. not so complicated.... (and black pickup pole pieces)

Just a great piece of maple that would contrast nicely with the mahogany back :)
