A bit cryptic
Kill Two Birds With One Stone- Post 2 Thousand and New Guitar Day

It's been a long time coming but i've finally managed to bring my stable back to my number 1 being a Music Man and my Number 2 being a Music Man and well number 3 is a Tele that I made and won't leave the stable...

Here's some background on the journey to acquiring this piece and why it's so Special to me...

While I was growing up I was surrounded by music and guitars and for as long as i can remember i have had guitars around me. My Uncle Bill was a major influence to my musical likings through the years introducing me to the likes of Morse, Albert Lee, David Gilmore, Zepplin, Halen, Aerosmith, Oingo Boingo to just name a few diverse artist.
I remember seeing a photo of my uncle playing a Sea Foam Green Fender Strat and told myself one day i'll own one of those guitars... and I did... but then i discovered A Small Company ( ;) ) called Ernie Ball Music Man and i was able to buy a 20th Anniversary Silhouette and ended up selling the aforementioned Strat... I was in Love with the Music Man and never looked back...
in 2011 BP posted a picture of a Mint Green Silhouette Special with a finished neck and my heart skipped several beats... I looked high and low and couldn't find one and more or less stopped looking as it seemed impossible to find...
This past year I walked into GC Hollywood and there she stood my Dream Guitar... Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouette Special in Mint Green, Pearloid Pickguard... you name it... It was everything i wanted... EXCEPT the Price was a bit steep for me at the time as i was on vacation and couldn't justify the spending for the used guitar... On the way back my Girlfriend really encouraged me to call when i got home and buy it since it was my dream guitar. So the next day i called and it was sold...

Fast Forward...
Two Weeks ago i was looking at the Guitar Center Website after band practice and typed in my typical search and the second guitar was a Mint Green Silhouette Special in Manchester Ct... I called immediately the next morning and put a deposit down to make sure this one didn't get away... Pete Dubaldo volunteered to go check it out for me and make sure it was in great shape before i pulled the trigger... WIth his Report back and an affirmative nod that all was good I bought it.

Without further adieu here is my long awaited dream guitar... She's incredible plays like a dream and sounds incredible through my Dr. Z Amp...

Here she is guys and gals...

As with all my EBMM's here's my traditional New Guitar Day Shot...

The Bridge Pickup was swapped by the previous owner and will be swapped out to a true DiMarzio Single Coil DP176 next month but after the height was adjusted it does sound pretty good for a hotrail... never had one before but fairly impressed but not what i was looking for. Pete and I had discussed this and it wasn't a a deal breaker for me... i knew i could live with the hot rail for now and replace it with either an OEM if one pops up or a DP176 as Dimarzio suggests...

Congrats on both accounts. I'm not the biggest fan of the pastel colors, but this combination is really beautiful with that neck. I'm really a big fan of tinted maple necks or nowadays roasted of course. My dream Silo Special would be that but in tobacco burst. If anything I would buy that guitar just for the neck hehe.

Peter, enjoy that axe and toss some new strings on it pronto! Love the "in-between" sounds on the toggle of that guitar.
I put new strings on it before i even played it... i could tell they were shot and the guitar was sent with the strings loose so it had to be tuned up anyway... so Snipped off the old strings and put the new ones on... She's truly incredible. I did tweak that bridge and got it to sit more in line with the others... one day i'll replace it with a single coil and get it as true as i can to the original condition... I'm so very thankful for you taking the time to check it out... Check Below...

Peter...How great is Pete? A dealer goes to another dealer to check out a guitar for a knuckle head....good on ya pete and congrats!

BP... i would be foolish to say you have no idea how great Pete and Nick are but you know first hand the lengths of their kindness and generosity. To further show how incredibly kind Pete is my conversation with him a few days prior was requesting information about the new Premier Guitar Dealer Special Order and was lining up to buy a new guitar from Pete... My next email was to inform him that due to a recent find I wasn't able to order a guitar from HIS store and that i thought i had found my dream guitar at GC...
The response that i got back from Pete was not what i was expecting... It was a 100% unsolicited offer to go check the guitar out. So not only was he not getting a sale he took the time out of his day to go check a guitar out at a competitors store... To top it all off it was the day that Pete and Nick were shooting their game changer video.

I'm still stunned of Pete's once over and full report back... everything he mentioned was spot on. He's a real class act. I'm not sure i can ever say thanks enough for helping me out by easing my mind on the condition of the guitar...
But i can say that next time i'm in CT Lunch is on me Brother...

Wow, that's beautiful! Perfect color for that guitar. I really like the neck on my roasted AL, I assume this has the same feel to it (except for the fretboard of course).

Tonights practice was for my church band and it was really funny... i got my guitar out and it drew some attention to say the least. The acoustic guitar player is also in my other band that i'm in and he was all about it...

So i'm really loving the way this guitar is sounding and i look over and the bass player... normally a P/J Bass player has sometihng different going on and i noticed that the headstock and bridge looked a lot like my guitars... just in Bass form...

He was on the other side of the stage so i couldn't get a real good look; however, i knew it was new and of the EBMM Nature and 5 String and Looked very nice...

Long story short he picked up a Sterling By MusicMan Ray... and it sounded incredible. I told him about this place and he was really interested and might join up on the other side... but thought it was cool to have someone i could chat with about MusicMan since he's very aware of the company and saving up to get a "real" MusicMan soon.... :)

Final report on the new guitar....

I couldn't be any happier with it.

Nice Post Pete.

Congrats on the 2000th post - it's great to read your posts over the years and for sticking around hanging out here in the best "Cyber Guitar shop" in the world!!

Nice story in the the first post. I can't view the pics at the moment and will take a peek when I get home.

I liked the story about Pete Dubaldo and it is another example of the kindness that exists around here.

Here's to the next 2k.
