I currently own a USA Wolfgang special. I really like tone and the feel of the neck and action(fits like a glove). I also like the size of the guitar and don't want anything much bigger. It's a bit bigger than the Axis. Probably the same size as the Reflex. The one thing I'm missing is the single coil sound. I've seen and heard the L3 on YouTube and I think it sounds great. I wasn't familiar with the Reflex until recently; so it's completely new to me. Also sounds great. I had considered selling the Wolf and getting an Axis SS to get the single coil sound, but thought the body might be smaller than what I'm used to. I've wanted a MM for the longest time.
The body of the L3 looks big to me, but pics can be misleading. Any feedback about these guitars is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have to say, the Luke III is the most comfortable guitar I've owned to date (130 or so guitars in 20+ years). I just picked mine up a couple weeks ago after realizing that while the Sterling LK100 I had was nice, I wanted the real thing. Simply amazing axe that is the Swiss Army knife in the guitar world... it does it all.

I also own a USA peavey wolfgang special and they are very high quality awesome guitars, and is honestly my no 1 right now, i also own a sterling ax40 with the real axis pups and that is my no2, if i were you i would look at the axis, imho its the best ebmm guitar! Every ebmm is of the utmost quality so you cant go wrong with any, but if you like the wolfgang go with the axis, oh whoops i just read the rest of your post, how you want single coil sounds, in that case i like the silo or maybe a luke, ive never tried a luke though, im not a fan of single coils, except once in a blue moon, ill play my old strat copy. But the axis is such a well built compact design and just screams high end USA quality!

I used to have a whole bunch of usa p.wolfs, and they were very nice. I simultaneously owned a whole bunch of axii. Switching between the two was seamless. The wolf's body is a tiny bit bigger than the axis, but not by much.

Although the guitars are very similar (I'm sure they are as similar as copyright law allowed since the wolf is essentially an axis clone) I find the big difference is in the frets. The wolf's frets seem smaller and instead of being rounded they seem more angular. The axis frets are much more to my liking.

I would recommend the Axis Super Sport so that you feel at home on the guitar (it's like the wolf), with the bonus of single coil sounds and better fretwork. The ebmm tops make the peavey tops look pathetic, by the way. Peavey's quilts look more like a wiggly flame top.

Oh, and...Welcome to the forum, jff.

I also find the frets much different, but my wolfs frets are much taller than the ax40, and yes the ebmm quilts are amazing! The peavey's only made the quilts for the first year and then switched to flame for the rest of the years, i must say Brian I like the feel of my wolf's neck a tiny bit more( right now) but i flip flop, i also just got my wolf so im going through the honeymoon, mine is a special, the one thats solid basswood and no top, and has a single knob( volume) mine is in vintage sunburst and is a GREAT GUITAR! the bridge is SO sturdy, its a great piece of USA craftsmanship, but my next will hopefully be an ebmm evh, i must have one! It will be an investment but also a player, i would hope to get a gold or red, even a blue that has faded to teal.

Lots of great feedback. I've thought about this for a while. I might keep the Wolf and get the L3. That way I should have all bases covered. Thanks again for all of your input.

You will be very pleased with the Luke III. The axis was my favorite model...until I bought a Luke III. Now it reigns supreme in my collection.
