I have an Axis Sport MM90 (Sunburst) over ash, I think. I love this axe. THE most comfortable neck, by far, and the weight, oh my, My back loves it too. Anyway , what was the last year of production for these gems? Why would they stop making this particular model? Doesn't make sense to me. Wow, I think I'm in heaven with this axe. P-90's RULE!!!

I can't get over how easy playing this guitar is, and those P-90's are so filthy sounding, you can't help but love'em. Get down and dirty, P-90's rock!!!

The Axis Sport was discontinued in 2002, partly because EB needed to make room on the production line for the Bongo bass. The Super Sport MM90 is still in production, however, so you can still get essentially the same guitar, albeit with a fancy-schmancy figured maple top ;)

Just registered for this forum. I have a nice bunch of guitars but the Axis has become my overall favorite. And it was one of the least expensive (from EBay.) I don't think that is a swamp ash body - I'm not sure it's ash at all - It looks like it could be poplar. But it really seems to be one piece and that makes me think it can't be poplar.

I'd really like to find a humbucker/piezo Axis but I don't want the quilted top.

(Sorry - this is the only picture I have uploaded.)

The Axis Sport has only ever been spec'd from the factory with an Ash body, and I've never heard or seen of one made of anything else. Certainly, there's Alder and Poplar on the factory floor (for the Silhouette and Morse, respectively), so I guess there's always a chance that someone tossed off a couple non-standard bodies just for ****s'n'giggles, or maybe there was a small, little known run of the Axis Sport in another wood type and we just didn't know, but the Axis Sport was always spec'd with an Ash body from day one... If you post your serial number, Jon or Derek can check the system for the birthdate and original color and other info - I don't know if they note the body wood on their computer inventories, but you could ask if they can check...

I got a DOB from here of 2-16-99 for my Axis Sport. Could you check for other info as you stated above for me please? #G05277 Thank you! :)
