Hello,
I am looking at buying a left handed 1980 stingray bass. (sunburst with rw board)
Does not have original case or string mute assembly. From the pics it looks to be in very good shape. He is asking $1,900.00. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming you're talking US Dollars, I think that's way too much! I think EBMM are building the best basses they ever have right now, I'm not aware of older ones being worth more. We have experts here that will chime in soon, I'd wait to get their opinion.... Calling Gav, your input please.

I'm hardly an expert on the pre-EB Rays, but I have owned a few. IMHO, that is way too much money for a 1980 model, although frankly I don't know how many lefties are out there. That might be a consideration.

The most wanted models are the 76-79 Stingrays. There ARE some good deals and good basses out there on the post 1979 instruments, but there are also some questionable QC issues on those, too, so I wouldn't buy one without going over it closely.

Anyway, that seems like way too much, but again, I don't know how scarce the left hand models are.
