Kudos to you lefty guys, evey now and again I flip over a bass to remind myself what a lot of you go through. That's a whole lotta rightious determination.

I'm glad to be a righty man myself.

Time to fess up. My grandpa couldn't stand for a left handed child. He made me do things with my right hand from an early age. I hung on to left handed cuz I was made of the same thing he was. It was a battle I won't go into here. I will state the result of that battle.

I am able to use either hand equally as well as a result of that. I really may not qualify as left handed any longer.

I just use my hands to get the job done. Never tried a lefty bass, it could be my failure as being left handed.

The only reason God gave me a right arm was to balance out my body. Right hand good for nothing but pressing four buttons on the x-box controller and stroking the neck of my bass.

Lefty for life here.

And BTW, Paul McCartney made it the southpaw's birthright to pounce on the four-string.

Write left, use a spoon left, and drink beer left. Throw, bat, kick, masturbate and play guitar/bass right. Left or right for hand and power tools.

I doubt many on this forum are old enough to remember when being a lefty was thought of as taboo. Fortunately, I had very understanding parents.

A fun exercise is to go look up "sinister" in the dictionary. Make sure to read thru all the entries.

My father was catholic. When I got old enough, I was glad he didn't raise me catholic. "Nuns, away with thy ruler!"

I was forced to be a situational right-hander via economics.

I know it was still considered taboo by some when I was growing up, but I wasn't really aware of that until I was older.

When I was in elementary school, the teacher was trying to show us how to hold a pencil properly. I just couldn't get it right because she was showing me with her right hand. Instead of switching hands herself to demonstrate, she just yelled and belittled me for not being able to do it.

She didn't let me go to recess, so I ran home when they were all outside playing. When I told my mother what had happened, she called my dad who brough home one of his detectives that was left handed, Paul Hubbard. He didn't have one bit of trouble showing me how to do it correctly.

Anyway, that's my little left hand story. Oh, my wife is also left handed. She says that when she first started to show left handed tendencies, her father wanted her mother to sew up the left sleeve on her clothes so she would have to use her right hand. Fortunately her mother was left handed and didn't think it was a very good idea.

Thank goodness that times have changed! Although, I'm still glad I chose to play bass right-handed, simply for having more choices.
