omg.

Recently I've been noticing more Jazz players using the thumb as a plucking motion, much like this one here, not just as a beater as in typical slap mode. Interesting how others attack the instrument.

Keith is a great guy and a truly talented artist. His list of playing credits is stunning. If you are in Nashville and Keith is playing, do yourself a favor and catch a show.

I've been a fan of this cat for years now and I first saw him at a NAMM show demo-ing gear (can't remember what company), but anyway, he usually plays 5s and 6s, but it's nice to see him tearing up a Stingray 4. Amazing how he plays lefty and the bass is strung righty - like Jimmy Haslip of the Yellowjackets does. I guess if you start out learning like that, then it's no big deal.

Due to my inconsiderate friends not keeping a spare lefty bass or guitar at their houses for when I come round I have got half decent at playing the things upside down now. Or so I thought until I saw that! Jaw dropping stuff.

The hardest part of getting the basics down is re-wiring your brain into the fact that the pitch goes up when you move down a string etc. Once you get that it isn't too difficult. Learning chord shapes upside down on the guitar can be a p.i.t.a though!
