Is it me, or does Lenny Kravitz wrote some uninspiring music or what. I don't mean to knock any artist down, but his music is boring, I don't even know why he's a famous rock star. Can anybody please explain why he's so popular and famous for making some boring music. Like I said, I don't mean to knock him down, but his music is so uninspiring.

While I don't have any of Lenny's Cd's I would not call his music boring ,or uninspiring and judging from the amount of record sales, there is alot of people who would also disagree with you.
 
Actually lenny is on top of my "people i hate most in the world" list. I really hate the dude.

so, ya i agree ... he's boring. and i'll raise you an "I hate him". I definately feel ya when you say his music sounds uninspired. I cant even put into words how bad this dude annoys the piss out of me ...

i can't shake the feeling that he's an imposter. Poor dude just wishes that he could be a cross between Slash and Prince .... but alas, he's not talented enough.

I must say, I was going to let this one go, but I can't. I've been a member, here for, er about 3 months or so, and I have never, ever come across a post as ignorant as this one. Everyone here is very professional, sure we like to joke but trashing a musician who, not only is making it, but also has some style of his own, is ridiculous. I listened to your stuff....but I, unlike you, am in no position to throw judgement around. Do you even realize what it takes to live or walk in his shoes...I don't think you do, cause if you did, you wouldn't fart out such nonsense...get a grip, concentrate on your own shortcomings, not those of others!

so ya ... i wrote that comment when i was having a super bad day. im not gonna pretend i like the dude nor will i pretend i know what its like to be in his shoes.

i dont think im above anyone or anything and .... was it a bitchy post that i made? ya ... so sorry about that. i didnt mean to piss off any forum peeps

No probs bro, I have done it before and I've also had people remind me...its cool, I understand where you are coming from, and I apologize if I was a bit harsh...now keep on rocking with your band and good luck!
 
Hey now, don't hate on Lenny. I am not a big fan, but I like a couple of his tunes. Have you ever checked out any of his stuff pre "Are you gonna go my way"? There was one song that really showed his skills, it was called Mr. Taxi Driver or something. That tune rocks. I will go as far as to say that he may be "selling out" a bit. Or at least his music is starting to sound kind of genaric IMO.

Zac, you raise a good point, and I will kinda go to bat for the jjavier and say that this is probably what he was getting at. I was never a big fan of LK, and the only reason that I knew of him before he got signed was because he was dating Lisa Bonet (man, she was lookin' good back then! :))

Like most of the people that came out in the early '90's. things are starting to go stale in their musical department. That's not to say that the boy ain't talented, mind you...he just needs to expand from the mediocre that is today's music.

And Razball, go easy on phatduck, would ya? The guy actually just left his band (you should read the bass forums before taking your fingers off the SUB's and puttin' em on the keyboard :p)

the main thing that bugs me about the dude is his image. i wont deny the dude can play and write ... i mean, hes signed and im not ... he he :)

its his image that really gets to me. i recently saw a video of his which looked like it was from a live performance ... so in this video he was playing the keys ... kinda went a bit off the deap end and started playing the keyboard with his butt, then ran backstage and sat in his dressing room in some big cushy chair and stared at himself in the mirror etc (looked like a vegas show-girl's dressing room). anyways ... that video really left a sour taste in my mouth.

anyways ... to each their own. and dont trip dude, no offense taken at all
 
Yea I saw that too. No Bueno. I blame main stream music and videos as much as I do Lenny on that one. I mean it seems that you either go out on stage in blue jeans and a T-shirt or you have to develope some outlandish glitzy persona like Britney Spears or something.

To change the subject just a bit, I saw this Prince thing (or the "Artist" er whatever) on TV not too long ago. Lenny was on it and a bunch more like Sly and the Family Stone, I belive it was a black artist apreciation thing or some stuff. I can't stand Prince's persona but this thing on TV reminded me that the dude can play the guitar something fierce! He and Lenny did "Are you gonna Go" and " American Woman" I think, and rocked out. It was hard to look at either one of them, but easy to listen to. I guess my point is that, if you take away all the glam, they both would still have the tallent. I blame MTV! lol. :)
