Crazy green and sparkles! I love it.

What I don't like is when people choose pickguards that seem to clash with the color of the finish ....... that is a concern.

well here's my honest - no jokes involved answer.

If you had a "nice" green as a standard color I swear that one of the 3 dual pickup basses i have purchased would have been ordered in that finish. on a small tanget ... same goes for trans black and trans white.

now ... IF MM released a green finish I would NOT order a new bass or guitar jsut because there was a newly (re)released finish however the next time I placed an order green would probably been my first pick.

I think it's pretty cool color for a BASS, muahahahaha!!! I think it would look cool with an abalone guard. I like green, and I wish Envy Green was still available, as I would get a Silo H-S-H with abalone..........why am I telling you bass dudes about this. You have no idea what I'm talkin about :p :p :p :D j/k!!!

I was glancing at Dargin's avatar Martini Green Bongo with the Black pickguard and said to myself, "That bass is really ugly" Jackie made a big deal of it but really folks I know that Dargie has a secret stash that he doesnt think I know about that make this bass really look homely and unbecoming. Kind of like a librarian with too much botox.

What do you guys really think? After the novelty of owning it how long would it take for you to put it on ebay?

THis bass would keep me awake at night barking

I absolutely love the color. If there is a single H, or SC/H Bongo 4 available, I'd send Dude the money today. And, I'd even sign an affidavit saying I'll never sell it unless I'm filing for bankruptcy or paying for childrens' (that I don't even have yet) medical care.

I'm not kidding.

Personally, I just think they need an antique pearl pickguard, and it would totally change the vibe. It'd almost look like a yellowed lpb 60s Fender.....

Please?

I wouldn't own a green bass if it were given to me.

Ahem.

Damned if I know what's true about these green basses. Sure, I like them, went nuts the first time I saw that martini olive green....we know how that story went...and I have a few lunatic friends who insist they'd buy a green Bongo in a heartbeat. Two questions come to mind:

1. Is it the novelty factor? The fact that there are no, for all intents and purposes, any green Bongos?

2. If there were a regularly scheduled green Bongo, would those same people not find them quite so attractive?

This brings up another question that I can't answer. The Biggest Dealers have a bit of influence on what's built and what isn't built, so if they say "We can't sell green basses" then they won't buy green basses, ergo no use in building them.

But are they sure?

I'm not, but then I've been known to enjoy the off-the-beaten-path colors anyway, so I'm not claiming any expertise. The build stats from SLO are always a shock to me - people keep buying those black/maple Stingrays, though, so that tells you what I know.

So that's a no-brainer - build black/maple Stingrays and skip to the bank.

As little as I want to believe it, the Biggest Dealers are probably right. When you look at how many black/maple Stingrays are sold versus how many 'more interesting' color combos are sold, from a strictly business sense, I suppose (this hurts) I understand why you're not building green basses.

On a positive note, it keeps my own green bass near the top of the heap in terms of "unique".

Is it that they are right or is it that they dictate what people buy by what they order?

If green basses flew off the shelves - or sparkles, for that matter - we'd be up to our eyebrows in green and sparkle. That's really what I think.
