I want to order a bass from EB. Do I have to do it through a retail store, or can I order direct?

Also, can anyone give me some feedback on HH vs HS Bongo? I freakin' love my Bongo, but I am having trouble getting used to playing the HH. I am sure I could get used to it, but I would just like to have a little more room for my fat fingers. Anyone want to chime in?

You would probably have to go through a retail store, as far as I know. I actually had an experience with shopping at Bass Central, during which time I ordered a SR5 Hp with a "morphed" finish. (In ordering the bass, they said that I could switch it for a different color before it hit the paint booth at the factory.) I was fortunate to have gotten the options I wanted. You might ask about what they have coming in, in this regard, because they might be able to make a minor adjustment for you if you want something that's close.

There is a build code form for Music Man instruments where you write down the number for the bass you want, the fretboard type, the finish, and the pickguard color. From there, I think you can submit this form to a Music Man dealer and they can process it for you. I've never done it and I don't know what the lead time is.

Yup - you'll have to order from a dealer. But - any dealer can order from MM so you should be able to use your fav shop or if you dont have one nearby you can find many reputable dealers hanging out on this forums.
