I have just acquired a very nice Honeyburst Sterling. I love it except for one thing, the tightness of the nut spacing. I have got used to my SR4 and find it a touch narrow at the nut.
To learn from all the experience here do you think I will get used to the spacing? As it’s a slightly older Sterling and doesn’t have the compensated nut I am wondering about getting an uncut nut and having it cut a touch wider. There does seem to be a lot of extra fretboard width to do this, especially on the ‘E’ side. In fact there does subjectively seem to more space between the outsides of the E & G strings to edge of fretboard than on the SR4, though I did round off the edges of that a touch.
Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks, Bob
