The peavey Classic is a very good sounding Power Amp and reliable and 299.- is a good price, so grab it (Reinhold Bogner recomended them for his Fish Preamp years ago, if you couldn´t afford a VHT)

I had the Rocktron Cabs in my store and I ´m glad they are gone , don´t take them light in weight but no good.

Raz, I'd base the setup on whether you'll stick with the modeler long-term.

I've got an old Marshall 4x12 and the 60/60 plus some misc preamps/effects that I bring out when I really need volume. But I'm thinking about getting rid of the cab in favour of a 2x12. The rig is heavy and a pain to drag around. Oh- but yeah, the 60/60 is plenty loud. I've giged with it a zillion times and it's more than adequate. Also rock solid.

Mostly I'm using my XT into a 120W keyboard amp and I totally favour this. Totally portable, pretty inexpensive, flat response, plenty loud, and my XT screams through it.

those peavy classic poweramps are GREAT for there price, really cant beat em.

id definatly pass on those speakers though...i dont ever remember rocktron in the speaker buisness, and i dunno if they should... personally, id grab some Bogner 1x12 Cubes, i think pappysmusic has 2 in stock, last time i checked. THAT would be a killer rig.

+1 on the Bogner cube. For cleans it's so pretty I wanna cry. You should hear the Silo Bari thru that rig. In high-gain mode, it will shake the floor with the JP7 (a single 12, mind you). That cab revitalized my Mesa III & IV amps.

real rock and roll means carrying heavy stuff. There are many compromises. BUT, JCM900 cabs are everywhere and CHEAP. And they are like renting. use it for a year or two, sell it for the same $250-$300. If you're going to practice and invest all the time, don't sell out by saying. "too heavy". You'll get to an age where it will be. Worry about it then. R and R is attitude and POWER. DO IT!!!!
Tube amps will serve you better in the long run. That said, I like the microcube
