I'll try to keep this short, but it is kinda funny.

I bid on and won a 1992 LP Standard w/ a birdseye maple top (really beautiful guitar) The guy emails me 3 days later and says that he made a mistake it is really a 1995, not a 92. So i said no biggie, as long as the guitar is mint, as stated.

I waited another 3 days waiting for him to send me a total, so i called him in Tennessee, last night. We talk for a bit...and i say, "so you do a lot of studio work? how did you keep that guitar so clean?"

He says, "no i play in a band i gig a lot. i actually dropped the guitar once, but it is ok"

I proceded to say, "how can the guitar be mint if has been dropped and gigged with?"

He said, "well it isnt a big dent."

I told hin thanks but no thanks!!! i offerd to pay his ebay fees because i did bid on it (i figured it was only fair)

i dodged a bullet there...good thing he was honest about it, or i would have ended up with a broke guitar!!!

I know it isnt about an EBMM guitar...but a good lesson for all who deal on ebay! :)

My old motto used to be:
"You get what you pay for and a little less"

My new motto is:

"Try before you buy"

It's so damn sensible-it's ridiculous! (And it goes for new AND used!!)

I've purchased 7 guitars ( 4 EBMM's), an amp, an 8 track, a Tonelab SE, a Digitech Whammy, a WD-7 Wah and countless other items like pedals, and stuff and I have never had a problem using Ebay...

Please read this message quickly as I need to delete it before my wife reads it

Dude 8 tracks are a thing of the past :D ...just kidding, don't you just love how they end on one side, during the middle of the song, then need to flip to the other to finish the song...that's classic!

I guess if you're careful and you communicate well you lower the chance of buying a Mint Les Paul-that has been gigged worldwide and dropped :D
