Placed my order last week.
I told them it had to have D-Sonic pups and a compensated nut. I'm sure that will increase my wait.
Anyone else bite?

...I'm on the clock.

it's black with gold hardware, also all Petrucci models will feature new bridge pickup (d-sonic) from some near point in the future

I'd qualify that a little, Philip. BP never said for CERTAIN that they are going to change the pickup to a D-sonic. He said they might... which is open-ended. Remember, at one point there was a mahogany neck-thru JP on the table, too.. but the idea was scrapped.

I just wouldn't want anyone to think that the d-sonic is a 'done deal' until someone from EBMM tells us for certain.

:)

We will be changing the bridge to the d-sonic since that is what Petrucci is using. I don't have a date for you as there are many variables when phasing in things.

I told my dealer that is what I wanted (d sonic) so I'm sure I'll be in for the big wait....

This guitar should compliment my new rad red JP6 that I got in Dec. This JP6 leap frogged its way to my #1 so I need a second one. Black/gold will be tres kewl!

Too bad that the neck through & fixed bridge JP was scraped... :-( I already put away some money for this guitar. :-(

I'd keep that money aside if I were you. I think that JP is still going to come up with a new model. It may be another year or two (or more), I think making the time to tweak and experiment may be the hold-up for JP. We know he likes the Silhouette bass and baritone guitars and so forth.. so I think he'll cook up another model down the road. I don't claim to have any real inside knowledge of this, though.. it's just my opinion. :)

Yeah it's cool - but lasted all of a year or so on my Les Paul.
Ther LP was prone to this and the Gold plating never really lasted that long on a gigging guitar - doesn't like the sweat!!

But I guess EB's gold Plating will be superior to the process they had on the LP back in the 70's.

Aww, crappy hell.

So, this marks the second signature model Petrucci, and still no lefty. Damn it all. It sounds like the second rendition of the model will be grand, and I am now offically double-jealous. Thanks, you bastards.

Jimmy, there's no 'second' model. The Limited Edition is just the same old Petrucci with a color scheme (paint and hardware) that is only available for a limited time. There's no change to the guitar other than colors.

I hope this makes you feel better! ;)

Sadly, I do not feel soothed.

I know it's not really a second edition, but it marks an innovation in the Petrucci model, and the innovation is not one that benefits my situation. Thanks for the effort though.

Aren't they changing the bridge pickup to a D-Sonic based unit after the current bridge pickups run out?

Technically that would make the second variation.
