Part 2

He looked at the refin and said not bad for a car sprayer! - he says he can tell when a guitar is refinished by a car sprayer - however he did say that it was an excellent job with only slight hints off over spray. "Leave it alone he said - I wouldn't bother". (More later!!)

Fred had told me that the piezo had issues and the guitar needed a set up.
PIEZO
Top E : A : Bottom E - the small piezo "saddly bits" are missing -lets see if any of the photos I took show this:-
Sdc10053resize.jpg

It's going to be difficult to get a good set up until I can sort out the Piezo .- the top e is "pinging" as it quite clearly isn't seating properly.

The neck will be fine.
Fret wear? Negligible really!

Top strap button is wobbly - the screw is bent ha!- easily fixed I'll bend the hole !!;)

Pots are a bit crackly - no problems sorting that one out even just by rotating them a few times is curing the problem.

Here's some more pics b4 I post the final Part 3

Part 3

Ok
so earlier on I said that Fred and I were discussing a Black Nitro Celly refinish.
I've now decided not to bother - I will probably refinish the headstock.
As you can see (can ya?)it has no logo.
I would like to strip the headstock back to natural - silk screen the logo back on and clearcoat it.

I have a nice piece of Swamp Ash that might evolve into a 24 Fret AL- trucci
Nitro Celly Black - might even craze the finish slightly (haven't decided!!)
Maybe a hardtail maybe HSH with custom wound pickups - but hell I'm getting away from talking E Balls now and that's not right

So it really needs some TLC.
I'll :-
Get the piezo sorted
Get the strap pin sorted
Get the set up all A1
Clean the rosewood fretboard (hey now I have two maple / two rosewood balls)

Play the hell out of it
Sort out the headstock ... then who knows!!

Fred man - awesome - exactly as you described it and believe me, for what we pay in the UK it was an absolute steal. Also after the issues we/you had to sort out, it was ironic that even in the end Murphy's Law kicked in and bit ya!!

I love it - and Pet owners - those pickups are awesome aren't they !!!!

Before I go to bed I should add that after playing it for the last half hour or so - Pets are lovely guitars.

All the issues with this guitar are as the result of hard gigging and a failure to maintain properly - the guy did say that the guitar needed a set up and really that's all it is with a bit of additional maintenance - in no way are the issues a result of manufacture.

Man this will be a great little project and a great little guitar.

Fred remember what your daughter said when she saw the guitar in your room - am I right in saying that she really liked it?

Kevin,
Yeah she looked at my guitars and said she liked that one the best. I told her not to get attached to it, it was headed across the pond. It stayed around long enough for my wife to think I was pulling a fast one on her...

I'm really glad that you're happy with it and everything eventually worked itself out.

You may want to sanitize it though. I'd swear that some of those smudges/spots are blood. I think the previous owner liked to flail it around a little...

Well I was going to say that she preferred mine the best - but didn't want to diss your guitars ha!

I was kinda looking at some of the marks when I had the case open in the office and wiped "some marks" off it!!

I'm going to take some naptha to it tomorrow (cigarette lighter fluid) and clean it up - ya know Fred - the refin is too good to respary in Black celly - but I will do some major work on the headstock.

Can't .... ...keep ...... my .... eyes ... open ... any longer .. couldn't sleep ..... last night ... in excitement !!!!

- you gotta tell me about those fsmith plectrums ??

Those were from the EBMM Knucklehead bash in the desert. I believe that any knuckleheads that attended *and* had some sort of signature line had picks made up that had their forum name and signature line and were scattered on the tables Saturday night.

EB knows how to throw a bash right down to the smallest details...

I grabbed a bunch and included some with the guitar. I think I threw in the "fanboy" and others too...

WOW - she's a beaut Spud, - looks like the wait, $ v £ - customs, strong winds, and everything else was worthwhile...

I had a thought on the Piezo - maybe the previous owner didn't like a low or top end sound - mid range mad?!??!
