Slapped on a new set of Slinky's today and what a difference! The set that was on there were so dead that if I had put flats on it, it would have been significantly brighter!

The Bongo has so much output, punch and presence, yet it's still that Music Man sound. I am thinking I may want to even try out the Ernie Ball straplocks on it, which means it will have to have it's own dedicated strap.

And I am leaning towards white pearloid for a new pickguard. Is white pearloid a three ply with a black layer? I like the look of the outline, which white ice does not have. Black or tort might be cool too, but that would change the whole look of the bass. I like the general look of it now, so maybe later.

Yes, that picture did not help. It was my reference when I was deciding whether or not I should go for it!

It's surprising how much the pickguard colour changes the look of the bass. With white, it makes the gold look lighter.

Tort looks like a natural, the up side is the color will look good with several guards, so you can do the seasonal thing. I bet vintage pearl would be cool also.
