Don't really need one but really want one!
Trans Gold just like Ed's main axe from the early 90s.....
Anyone selling up? Have a 2000 MINT Trans Gold Axis in Case with all case candy to trade if necessary but would like to keep that too......

Really? Actually, my EVH is a player's guitar. It certainly isn't in mint condition. I've had it since new in 1992.

"A player's guitar"? It's possible to have guitars like mine and keep them in good to MINT condition.......depends on the style of music you play and whether or not you favor a Hendrixesque encore......(lifts EBMM AXIS up over head and smashed to bits!) But I know what you mean.....I probably would like a very clean one......I'm fussy like that and any stuff I do is mostly home recording etc!

Well, there's tons of scratches, some dings, a small piece out to the wood along the back edge where it rests on your stomach, the tremolo was replaced with a Gotoh (it's the same tremolo, only it doesn't have MusicMan stamped on it, and the collar for the bar is different; actually much better in my opinion). It's been well played, but it's not a wreck or anything.

Man that is the business ! I want it....! And I thought my Axis was beautiful. Is that a premium Top? Myabe someone can explain the whole Premium Top/ Birseye Neck situation when ordering an Axis/EVH. Is it luck or can you actualy have a premium grade top and neck?

"Premium Top" allows you to specify flame or quilt, and the good folks at EB are kind enough to pick out the most figured piece of wood in the shop...just for you! Otherwise you get what you get, flame/quilt - just luck-of-the-draw, whatever is on top of the pile.

A birdseye neck is not an option you can specify, but generally speaking, the artist instruments and the Axis instruments usually come with a figured neck. The amount of figuring in the neck cannot be specified - you get what's in the pile, and I have yet to see an ugly neck come out!

Good luck in your search. Here is mine - '93 is when I bought it (original owner) and I love it. What a guitar - my most recent acquistions have been PRS but the EVH EBMM is really my number 1. Maybe it is because I have had this guitar longer than any other that I presently own, but it is really a wonderful guitar - tone and looks.
