Well, if you want a new one instead of buying Phil's used one,

How about this one? Chuck Levin's : Music Man Petrucci Solid-Body

Or this one? Ernie Ball - MusicMan - Guitars and Basses in stock

There are a couple on this page: MusicMan Guitars

People here have had good experiences dealing with those dealers. Or do you want a dealer with a more "substantial" reputation?

That's great, thanks.

All Petrucci's have the really big range whammy bars and forearm scoops, right?

All have forearm scoops, except BFR's. Here's Petrucci talking about BFR [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXqsYCyx6BE"]YouTube - John Petrucci BFR F1[/ame] that may come in handy.

what do you mean by "really big range whammy bar" ? The thing with this bridge is that is really easy to adjust from sticky to swinging around (which I actually love)...I think the best for you is to hang up in the music stores and really taste this sweet guitar :)

Phil is right. If they say 8 months it going to be 8 months (5 months to make guitar and 3 more for shipping). The same thing is here in Poland. If they don't have in stock what you want you are pulled to wait 8 months...so if I were you and had that opportunity to buy JP in US I would go for Phil's one. As far as I can tell he's responsible and cool guy, so his axe has to be in great condition. Plus (correct me if I'm wrong) his price is also cool.

This way or another being in US gives you a multiple ways to get this AWESOME guitar!

best,
Mike

Well the Petrucci I played was basically Floyd Rose range, just without the hassel of the floating bridge and insane string changing.

I also have the option of getting a BFR if I want, is it worth the extra money? And is it really THAT much better than the original JP? I'm a huge fan of the Mystic Dream, so if I have to give that up I want to know that I get a far, far superior product.

Also, do the BFRs have painted necks? I cannot live with painted necks, they're like my kryptonite, any time I play with one my hand gets immensely bogged down.

After watching the video, I noted how John says he wanted to change the feel of his guitar. Not being able to try this out, I'm worried that when I buy my BFR online, it won't feel the way I like. I am used to playing maple necks with rosewood boards, so going to mahogany could be a surprise for me. Will this be a big adjustment? Also, where can I get a BFR online?

Sorry to throw so much stuff out there, just a lot in my head.

All regular JPs are the same (i.e., same trem, same arm scoop). All BFR JPs are the same (i.e., same trem, no scoop, etc.).

Only you can answer for yourself if a BFR is worth the money. Honestly, I'm still not sure how I would answer that question.

I have a base model JP6. Now, I have a BFR JP6 coming. I've never tried a BFR through a decent amp. So, I have no idea if I'm going to want to buy another. I'm just going on faith. I have a 20th Anniversary Silhouette. I think it sounds fantastic. I just imagine the BFRs will be similarly amazing, but I won't know if I will think that the BFR is worth the premium. I suspect it will be, but I won't know for sure until I try it and compare it to a regular JP6.

Do BFRs have painted necks? I can't do painted necks. Do they feel a LOT different than a regular JP?

Take a look at Dave's Guitar Shop, just spotted a new JP Mystic Dream with matching headstock, trem with piezo option. Look under the Misc Electrics section.
