Hey guys,

I have been using EBMM Axis for a while. Considering to buy a ESP guitar(probably just a standard series-M2) right now. Have any of you have both ESP and balls and are able to tell the difference b/t them?

If you guys think ESP's quality and sound is far cry from EBMMs,i ll just rethink about it.

Thanks

This is an EB site and i like to promote EBMM guitars. I have played a few ESP's and they are totally different to the EBMM. I found them all a bit generic. For the price they were a bit "plastic" feeling...not woody like the MM. (apart from the custom shop ones i tried)

Good pups and a nice top does not = great playability.

EBMM = great playability

But hay........ dont let me tell you.

You may be in for a bit of flack here mate, looking for an ESP on an EBMM forum. TAKE COVER!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Jonny.

While most of us own and appreciate other guitars made by other companies (including our very own "refuses to read my PM's Big Poppa"). I don't think we're going to drop by the F#nder forum and ask what they think of EB. Well not anymore since the Dude has stopped drinking. ;)

I guess you're going for the Hum+Hum config?
I've owned the KH-2 (Kirk Hammett sign which is based on the mII but more expensive). It's an ok guitar but I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that the EB Jp6 would be a give much more joy when playing! Or at least it gave mere. As someone has already mentioned you just get the feeling of having "real" wood between your hands with a EB/MM.

My 5 cents....

I've owned and sold a few ESP's, including a supposed "Holy Grail" Explorer. Notice I said "sold" - none were ever good enough guitars to warrant me holding on to them for extended lengths of time.

Save your money and stay with EBMM. Yes, I know it's tempting because it seems like all my (and maybe your) favorite bands are endorsed by ESP, and you get a lot of guitar for the $. Don't drink the cool-aid. Stick with EBMM.

I would also recommend spending some time on the ESPee forum to discuss this with some of the "adults" there.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - this is one of the best run forums on the net. While others can actually turn a prospective buyer AWAY from a brand due to childish behavior, the way this forum is run, and Sterling's imput, have made me a loyal EBMM customer.

When I decide to get back into playing guitar, after my 15 year break (yeah I know old story), I purchased an ESP (Japan) for X amount of dollars. Took it home, and within ONE DAY I took it back because I couldn't adjust the truss rod any further, because of an annoying fret buzz. When I returned the guitar, the next day, the salesman said that I was lucky cause a NEW guitar just arrived and he claimed it had the fastest neck in the store. I tried it and he was right, ( I had previously tried every guitar, after 4 freakin hours, in the store within the 1000.00 dolar price range) That guitar was the Ernie Ball Sub 1, and it was X amount plus roughly an extra 100.00. So here I was always wanting an American guitar, cause I knew imports were troublesome (I've had truss rod problems with Kramers and BC Rich Japanese guitars before), and NOW I was able to afford one. You know I never looked back, I still have this guitar and it's still a very fast neck, and I have an EBMM JP7, to compare with. So if your asking, then I'm telling, unless your going to spend THOUSANDS for their custom shop guitars, which I would never do, GET ANOTHER BALL!
