Hey guys.
Just finished cleaning my gear.

I make sure I clean out amp heads and cabinets regulary. More so if you are a smoker or have wood heat in your house/ studio. It seems I did this a couple of monts ago and the dust builds up quickly

Dust shortens the life of electronics. I like to use a can of air and have a vaccum running to suck all the dust I blow out so I dont get it in the room.

I then use a can of dust eater that i can spray on the contacts that disolves any grime that builds up.

When I change tubes I use a pair of cloth gloves so i dont get oil on the tubes. The oil causes the uneven heat distribution on the tubes. The tubes exand unevenly and may cause premature tube failure ( I learned this from an old Russian friend who works on electronics but not too sure if this is valid but makes sense. He says I should do it whenever I am replacing light bulbs as well).

Any other tips ?

People may find this a bit silly...but for wiping down the guitar, I use an old gym sock. Doesn't leave behind any fuzzies like those yellow cloths do.

I should probably do a little amp cleaning as my place gets very dusty.

I should probably clean my place too.

Keith, make sure when cleaning your axe, you don't accidentally grab your old gym jocks you still have laying around.

Your guitar might be very clean, but man it would stink.

Old socks...worn a bunch of times...but also washed.

Whats wrong with that? Throw it on the hand as a sock puppet, then wipe down guitar. Don't knock it till you try it.

I'm wearing one right now.
