I have a 1999 Stingray that I picked up a few months ago and Im so blown away by this bass that Im scratching my original plans of backing it up with a vintage (70-77) P-bass and now Im wondering about another Stingray.

heres what Im wondering--> is there a difference with the older and newer Musicmans, is there some years better than others or should I just buy a New/newer one? the ray I have now has a rosewood board so the next one has to have a maple board just to keep things a little different.. anyway Im not looking for a super heavy bass like the late seventys precisions just average weight and built well with that Kick A$$ sound I've come to love.... thanks Taj

Might I recommend the '92 . .
A red . . transparent, very well balanced, lite,
with wood undertones . .
and the blackened porterhouse w/garlic mashed red bliss potatos.

I haven't played thousands of older ones, but I made the same search as you last year and went with a new 2 band. The build quality is fantastic, and to my ears it is almost identical sonically to the pre EB I remembered (and was trying to replicate)...

I never owned a pre-EB.
I prefer my '92 cuz it's lighter (don't know why),
has larger bridge/mutes & a beautiful birds-eye
finished maple neck. Most importantly, it plays
and sounds great! You can't go wrong with any
year really so don't restrict yourself.

I want trans white!!

Yeah, I know how you feel, I waited a long time
before I found one. I know Gav has one but I
think his son stole it. My A+, #1, favorite color
of all time
