The Markbass Mini CMD 121 is quite small and has quite a big, bass sound. It's not especially present or clear in the high-mids but for bass response it is really impressive.

markbass, ampeg, mesa all sound great, even the behringer bxl 600 I use at practice produces the growl. If you only need a head and want to use the speaker you already have, I have a yamaha bbt 500H I will sell you for 200. It has 11 different voices, all of which work great with MM's.

Rather than suggest the amps I've been using, I refer you
to URB Bob Gollihur. Small amps of quality tone with clear
response are de rigueur on Planet Urb.

One little giant I've never tried, but that has always held a
fascination for me, is the Phil Jones line. I may yet get one.

Yeah, I've been reading everywhere that Markbass combos are pretty cool. Personally, never heard one in person. There is also no place to try one around :(

Regarding Phil Jones amps, they look nice. Specially size-wise. But hwo would you compare them to the Markbass amps?

Even though I am looking for a new combo, a cabinet+head could also be an option, specially if the cabinet is very small.

As mentioned above, I've owned, or still using, a number of
amps that fit your parameters ... but NEVER had a PJ. I have
heard one with a Rob Allen and thought it was perfect but a
RA have a sorta URBish voice ... not at all like a MM bass.

Small high quality amps I've kept include the GK MB150 and
the MarkBass mini with the dual 6", but I bleeb that model
has since evolved to be a dual 8" in slightly bigger enclosure.

Not quite a mini, but I also enjoy the MarkBass 12" combo, I
forget the model name but there are two 12" combos and it's
the smaller/lighter model. Weighs under 30lb :)
