Hey guys,

So I love my Petrucci. Best guitar ever. I'm selling every guitar I have because I don't need them anymore. However...it has a high fret. I got it checked out and it indeed is a high fret, out of the range of adjustment. So it looks like its going on vacation to sunny San Luis Obispo. Should be back in a week or two. Everyone wish it luck on its epic journey. I'm hoping for a "My best friend got sent to Cali for fretwork, and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" shirt.

So how have you guys dealt with your ball being gone? How's your experience with the repair work? Tip-Top shape I'm sure.

Here's another question: How the hell do I put a guitar in the mail!? I've never had to mail a package this large...

EBMM repair/service department is awesome. They will take good care of your JP.

As for shipping I use:

UPS Ground with insurance packaged in the original shipping box.

No need to fret, get it, fret, CS and Jon are great, the work he does is superior and the turn around in my experience is quick, use UPS so you get a tracking number, simply place said guitar in case and use the box it came with and tape the crap out of it, i have shipped to several countries no problem and buy another EBMM so you have a back up:D

haha. Okay, so UPS. The only promblem is I didn't get the original box it came in. I bought it at Guitar Center, and they just gave me the case and all that. Anybody know a box that fits well?

Pittman, I had the piezo system on my old Mystic Dream JP6 replaced in late 2007, and EB did a great job on it. The turn around time was pretty quick too. I had my local GC overnight it to EB, and the next day it got there and was fixed the same day, then the next day it was on its way back to me, easy as pie! Just make sure you get a tracking number if you go through UPS, and insure it for the full value.

I've sent a few to SLO for work, and they've ALL come back top-notch. Jon worked on 'em, and he is insanely good.

The fretwork on my Morse was unbelievable. Lowest action I've ever had on a guitar, without a buzz, period.

So don't lie awake at night worrying, you'll be well taken care of. :)

Go back to GC and ask them for a box. Bring your (empty) case to be sure it fits well if it isn't an EBMM box. If the box is a bit oversized make sure to pack the empty space(s) very well with bubble pack or newspaper (NO FOAM PEANUTS!!!) to be sure the case doesn't shift at all inside the box.

If it makes you feel any better, my JP6 went from Montreal, Quebec all the way to SLO and back for a repair and there were no issues.

Cheers,

Jbert

I'm gonna have to say that FedEx is a better choice, man.. too many UPS horror stories both for myself and friends. Besides.. I've known guys that worked for UPS..... that's all I'm gonna say about that.

EBMM is such an amazing family, man.. I love it.. they'll treat your buddy well, and the best part(to me)... THE FACTORY SET UP! :D

You may send it Fedex, but I believe EBMM uses UPS exclusively for shipping, so that's how it will get back. You should check with them if that's an issue for you.

Sometimes I wonder if the UPS's reputation suffers mostly from the fact that they are used so much more than anyone else. Just a thought - I would think all these carriers must screw up once in a while.
