I noticed that yesterday too... was surprised to be honest - I thought he'd decided on keeping it. I don't think mentioning BP supporting it's authenticity is right though... he could have said MM have verified it... not need to drag poor Poppa into it..

Yeah, it just sort of smacks of "I stumbled onto this, thought I got ripped off, found out it's one of a kind, so now I'm gonna try and make a profit off of it"

Actually, I think it was Derek and not BP IIRC.
If it wasn't BP then, the guy mentioning Sterling in the ad is even worse! I think he did chime in during the thread at one point, but either way I dislike how he is trying to cash it on it like Fuzzy said.

It's his bass and he can set it on fire and post the video if he wants.

No one should fault him for selling it, nor should we think any less of him because he uses the information he learned here (although it was Derek who had the info, not BP).

I felt bad that he took off in a huff and really didn't get why he did, but that's his choice, not mine. Everyone is free to come and go as they please.

He's got a unique instrument and he decided to not keep it. If I were in his shoes, I'd certainly talk up the 'unique' aspect of the bass. He thought it was one thing, it turned out to be another and, well, it's his bass, bought and paid for.

Calm down, villagers.

He's a witch! Burn him!

I get your point Jack. I was more in the vein of "what a tool".
Ditto - if I had something that unique I'd want to keep it! Not flog it on eBay, but it takes all sorts :D

(apologies for fuzziness of brain... we had some drinkies at work before I left and I'm not hugely with it right now) :)

I will address all of the concerns listed here. I apologize if I incorrectly mentioned Sterling Ball as authenticating the bass' history, although he did verify pertinent facts. I cannot change that part of the listing and will not do so again if I relist it. I apologize to Big Poppa. I am selling the bass because I happen to like the lakland I bought at the same time more. I am also selling it, in part, because of the way in which my curiosity about the bass led to what I believed was unwarranted and irrational criticism about my attempts to share my experiences with other forum members. I simply killed the thread when I felt that it ceased to be useful. Now it seems that my attempts at bringing the bass to market have engendered another round of, what I consider to be, juvenile culture policing. Thanks. I felt really welcome during my time here. Jack, thanks for being the voice of reason and standing up for me! I will not post here any more.

I know there were a lot of questions about that bass and a lot of people chimed in with opinions (hey, it's the internet, it's what we do). I wasn't aware of the criticism and would have policed it up if I had been. Whatever was said, I'm sorry you saw it in a negative way and I'm sorry you weren't made to feel more welcome.

This is a family of sorts and we can be a little insular, and at least part of what I do is to make sure the 'newest family members' are made to feel welcome.

I apologize if I didn't do that.

You're welcome here now, you were welcome here before - and you will be welcome in the future if you decide to give it another shot.

You didn't miss anything Jack. All somebody did was ask him to either resize the pics or take some ones that were better in focus in a slightly sarcastic manner. Unfortunately he did not take well to the gentle prodding.
