+1 with DK on the Thoman amp - it is just like an Epi as he says but with a tone control.

I hear that Bugera are bringing out some small amps? (that's what was said at the Birmingham Music Live) - may be worth waiting.

I second that... This is a VERY nice amp... Not exactly what I have in mind when looking at EL84 amps, but seriously nice.

Guys, you'all have mentioned a bunch of great little amps. I would suggest a F_ender Princeton Reverb too, but an original not the new one. I love my 79 and they can still be had for not too much cash. I also like real and homebuilt F_ender Champs. They sound great running into a 1x10 or 12 or 2x10 or 12 cab. I like the little Carvin V16 too. I had a V Bel Air and it was a good amp, after I modded it to wake it up a little. I'm pretty interested in that little Egnater Rebel 20, seems like a very versatile little sucker, and I'd like to take one apart and look it over. The Victorias are all nice. Also David Allen makes some very nice little amps. His Sweet Spot is a great amp.

I,m around my mothering laws house at the moment waiting for a heating engineer.Shes in hospital and its sub zero temps in Old Blighty. So I,ve brought my Tele/Silo,a delay pedal and that green Dallas/Ariter amp with me. Normally its in my sons bedroom and i dont play it often. So i've pluged it in and turned it up full. I usually play my Hiwatt or Boogies,this thing aint that loud.Just loud enough .Surf to Rock to blues ?No problem.Lots of natural overdrive.You can hang an extension cab off it.I tried it with a Vox 1x18 bass cab once.It sounded massive. GREAT FUN.

Trust me. Go try the Fender Princeton Reverb Reissue. 15w amp. You'll get what you want.

Good call. Otherwise, a decent condition silver-face Princeton Reverb would also be well worth acquiring. Very sweeee-t overdrive and nice cleans when necessary. Still one of the amps on my g.a.s. list

I'm not sure what your budget is but I'll throw the Matamp 1224MKii out there if you can find one used. I used to have one and it had that Peter Greene vibe going on and it could go down to 3 watts (could go all the way to 50).

As mentioned, the Suhr Badger is a nice amp.

Also, take a look at the Carr Mercury as it also has a built-in attenuator that let's you go from 8 watts to 1/10th of a watt! Sounds pretty nice too, there are sound clips on the linked page.

I got a blackheart little giant head, for about 100quid - switchable 3/5 watt - once you bin the chinese valves and put in some JJ's it's got a great tone......
There's loads of you tube stuff, and if you find mine you'll hear a BFR going through it!
