As the owner of a Luke 1 Pearl Red, I've often wondered how many original Lukes there are out there (photos would be nice!) as they seem to be pretty rare.

Does anyone have GAS for an original Luke at all?

I ask as I am no longer a fan of Floyds and am thinking of selling mine - I'm trying to guage if it's a wise move or not.

Any thoughts appreciated! :)

Mike

P.S. Thankfully, I won't be ball-less or Luke-less if I do sell my original, having a Luke 2005 LE and an ASS MM90 to play with! :D

Mike,

All I can say is "wow"!!! With a guitar like that how can you NOT be a fan of FR?!!

Even if I didn't play a FR guitar, I would just like to "own" that one.

Put it away for a few months then bring it back out, and you'll say, "no way" am I selling it!

LOL:)

Uber-rare...it's probably second to Mr. Horsepower. Took me a couple years to snag mine but it was worth it. If you were not in England I'd be telling you to sell yours...only so I could snag it :)

Here's mine:

TNT - I understand your idea. Problem is that I purposely play it now and then to justify owning it! I usually lean towards grabbing my Luke 2 or ASS as for some reason I seem to play them better! I do love it a lot though - the neck is sublime and after owning it from new since 1998, it's still in mint condition, never gigged etc so it would seem a foolish thing to let it go. I just prefer the more compact vintage trems these days. The Floyd, locking nut and string retainer just seem excess compared with the newer models cleaner appearance.

Devnor - Uber rare? Wonder what numbers exist! It's comments like yours that get me thinking that it's a bad idea to contemplate selling. On the other hand if there's a Floyd nut out there, who know's!

That is a beaut of a pic off yours I think. The neck wood seems to be a lot darker on my 1 than it is on my 2 - possibly aging. Just need to get some decent pics when the sun decides to come out!

If i want to sell all my guitars someday (probably never happen) It would be the last guitar i will sell due to it's rarity and i had waited for long time to find this guitar

I have a Luke 1 in pearl blue, if l could find another one, l's snap it up in a flash. I've had my Luke 1 for years and years now, l prefer it over my other Luke's just for the fact that l've used it for that long now, that it's just so warn in and feel and sounds fantastic.

Nice pics guys!

I get the impression that they are pretty rare (making me think selling mine is a bad idea).

Anyone know how many exist? Anyone care so speculate on approximate current value (via PM please - there are forum rules about prices being mentioned in post if I remember correctly)?

Many thanks for all the posts. Hope there's more to come!

Mike

I still think the pearl red- and blue are one of the best colors Music Man ever made.

Luke 1's are kinda rpicey, and i'm not a huge fan of Floyds. But I think it looks better than the 'Luke II's'

You guys are making me nostalgic for the Blue Luke 1 I purchased back in 1993 and sold in 2000! Ugh! I should have kept it!

I kept my '93 Luke 1, and it's still goin' strong! (Well, okay, the knife edges need sharpening...a task I'll need to undertake soon...) ;-)
