I'm sat playing my Luke 1 as I read this.
Still an amazing guitar to play. Apart from the Floyd Rose, The SA57 single coils really set it apart from any of the other Luke models. I do hate changing strings though as it takes a lot longer than on the non-Floyd versions, but once it's set up, it's great.
Man, I've got no problem with Floyd's on guitars. They certainly take longer to set up and restring, but they are really stable. LOVE the original Edge Floyd's. I would not hesitate to use a Luke with a Floyd. I'm really starting to like the idea of the JP16, even though the JP MM bridge is incredible. Floyd's are just a part of my life at this point I've owned so many guitars and setup so many guitars with them.
I bought a Pearl Red with lots of paint dings for a decent price and had it refinished.
I swapped out the EMG 85 for an 89 to get single coil sounds and it worked like a charm. Very strat-y when split. The Floyd is high quality, and I would estimate 80% of the guitars I have owned have had a Floyd or similar locking trem. I guess you could say I'm used to them.
