Just got back from California today and finally have a chance to write about Luke's performance at the Grammy Museum.

The Grammy Museum's Clive Davis Theatre is a very intimate venue and seats about 200. I saw Luke's son Trevor and daughter Tina in the row right in front of me. The show was about an hour and a half of interview with questions from the audience and about 40 minutes of music at the end.

Luke was recovering from a cold so they played a set of instrumental cuts. Both models of Luke III were there. He played the Olive gold SSH model the entire night with a single Bogner Ecstacy and his pedal board. The sound was fantastic and the band was very tight!

Thoughts on Luke III: I was hoping he'd switch up between the 2 Luke III's but he stuck with the SSH one. To my ears, the passive pickups have a much smoother EQ than the EMG's. The only way I can describe it: there isn't that mid-range grainy snarl when he's on the lead channel and really digs in. I really enjoyed the tone of that guitar and can't wait to find out what pickups are in there and when it's going to be available for sale. Might have to get both versions!

No matter what Luke plays through he'll always sound like himself and with the Luke III it was no exception. Overall, I'd say this model sounds very "Les Paulish" and full.

At the end, there was a quick meet and greet. No photos allowed during and after the gig, but I did get to shake the masters hand and say hello. He kindly signed two of my Luke guitar plates. There was also a guy that came to the gig with a Black sparkle Luke with no case and was hoping to get it signed. I'm sure he walked out very happy!

A pic of the two backplates and many nice memories!

I wonder why they asked no photographs after the show?
During the performance i get...nothing more annoying than everyone snapping cell phone pics and vids with arms outstretched while the the rest of us fume.
Too bad about the voice. I would love a Luke live cd at the grammy like jeff beck released recently.

There was a film crew there that shot 2 camera video of the entire show. I believe its for the Grammy Museum archive though. I had my camera ready for a photo with Luke but the guy who was handling the autograph table said no photos and we were limited to one item signed each. There were some pro photographers there that were able to shoot photos but I didn't get my chance.

It was a very low key gig and the sound and acoustics of that room were fantastic.

I am under the advice of an atty to not sing. And I'm originally from Nashville.
Luke is a great show!

I thought it was your gyno?
A. No the gyno said to sing out loud
B. The Gyno is from Philly
C. You got me there, Luke is a great show, but the show my Gyno puts on is simply stunning and amazing. So entertaining that my face hurts from smiling.
