So, I have a very quick and easy question:

Does the Axis neck fit the Luke body?

Inside the cover of Luke's excellent Candyman album, there is a picture of Luke with an EVH siggy... which sports a Luke neck. Which got me thinking that the opposite ought to be possible.

Now, can anyone confirm my assumption, or will my evil plan of fitting a BFR Luke with a maple boarded Axis neck have to remain just a bloody good idea?

Cheers

Yes- the neck heels are the same size so you can swap them. How can I be sure it works?

I've had a few Lukes at one time or another. And I was lucky enough to find some unused necks (which you almost never see), so I'd bought them up. Did the swap for fun one day.

The funny thing is, that I like the body ergonomics of the Luke, but can't really get the hang on the V-neck. There was a guy here in Germany who obviously did some EBMM "Frankensteining"....and sold the rest on Ebay. So, if I had known this two years ago, I surely would have started that kind of project :(

The problem is, as soon as you start messing around seriously (removing wood, etc.) you tend to kill the resale value. So it can be an expensive proposition.

Of course....and I'm much too picky to do that. I even stopped myself messing around with guitars, and let a experienced tech do that for me....someone I can trust. The feeling of disintegrating serious craftsmanship with my own stupid hands is just not for me

I'll try this! :D
I'll swap the neck of my 1997 Luke I with the neck from my 1997 Axis.

If this works I will search for someone who will trade his axis-neck against my Luke-neck, cause I love my Luke but that V-shaped neck don't work for me.

But this experiment must wait some days (or weeks?), because I have two broken knucklebones in my right hand which will be operated (right word?) this thursday.

Greetings from Germany
Joe
