So went to Luke's gig at the Manchester Club Academy, Friday past.

What a gig. Very intimate. c300 people in the crowd. Tight stage but plenty room for Luke to dance about. The band are so tight and seemed to have a great laugh on stage.

Eric Valentine is a POWERHOUSE on the kit!! We were second row but man could you feel the air shift when he hit the skins. Renee Jones was super sexy on bass and a great vocalist too. Monsieur Wiengard on keys was amazing too.

Luke kicked off with his Dargie 1 then onto his Rad Red LE then pretty much played the rest of the gig with the awesome True Gold ... which is an even more amazing guitar up close & personal!!! Great tone all night long and managed to recapture the tones from the album pretty well.

Luke also did a meet & greet earlier in the day. Such a great guy. Happy to chat and answer any questions. Gave a massive bro-hug when he spotted my 'That top sucks' T-shirt. Only wished i'd taken my BFR down for him to sign. However, i made do with his latest album cover.

Still grinning from when the full band starts the opening track "Darkness in my world' ... the whole place had a groove on!!

I was at the same gig and the meet / greet at PMT earlier on in the day - great to meet my hero...

I'm uploading a video of the first track 'Darkness in My World' to: Steve Lukather - Darkness In My World

Took 78 photos while I was there, iPhone got damn hot and only when I got home did I realize how crap a photographer I am, and how poor the iPhone is for photos under stage light conditions... There's only about 2 photos close to being in focus that aren't blurred or bleached out...

Maybe next time I'll do a better job!

I saw him in Leamington, half a house but he really gave it some, also was good to easly get up front!
Love the intro he plays in place of the vocals in Darkness in my world, the Dargie was getting it big time!!!!
But yeah, the truegold got the most work, cool seeing the red Luke with the sustain pick up in!

Apple: you should have come up and said Hi! I think i was the only one there with a BFR t-shirt on ... at least from what i saw.

Anyway. i took 3 photos of the gig with my iphone and i was right at the front. they still were rubbish. the sensor doesn't deal well with stage lighting at all. thought about videoing it but it would just be far too distorted with the mic on the phone.

will be interested to see your vid though.

Lukeuser78: i too loved him playing the vocal leads on the guitar instead of singing it. did he do it behind the curtain before coming on to start the full groove? he did that at Manchester.

Awesome gig. Awesome player.
