I absolutely love the Luke. It plays kind of similar to the Silouhette (in my opinion) which is great because that is a wonderful guitar. The feature I like most about it though is the tremalo. There is a metallic black one at the guitar center near me that I have been lusting after for about a year now. The trem is so smooth, that I cannot believe it. I don't even use a trem much in my playing, but if I had a Luke, it would be hard not to. Total controll baby! Anyway, I would reccomend it over the Wolfgang, but then again I am rediculously loyal to EB. I also thought that post it notes would never catch on, so what do I know?

i would also recomend the Luke. its a fantastic playing guitar. and it has the active pickup set which would provide your high output your looking for. (emg 85 in bridge, which is nice casue its not insane output like the 81) wolfgang is great, but with the luke your getting a non-masproduced instrument with small company like support. the way i like to think of it is if EB is gonna produce 10 guitars, they don't just make 10 great guitars. they make a great guitar 10 times. that insures quality and consistancy thru all quantity made. if that makes sense to anyone else let me know. lol ok now i'm rambling........

Lukefan,
Hey, I've got a luke, and I love it to death. Just an awesome feel to it, silky smooth and almost floyd-ish trem. I have to disagree with estin here though, the pickups are not high output. The bridge EMG-85 is about on par with a PAF when it comes to output, and the single coils are hotter than normal singles (a bit more midrange too to my ears, and of course no hum). That doesn't diminish the axe at all...in my opinion they are a great compliment to the axe, just means you have to drive the preamp with more gain. It even has a neato battery compartment in the back to power the EMG's...great touch. Any more questions, feel free to hit me with them man.

GrooveHT;does the guitar really stay in tune even when you use the tremelo for the wilder Vai type stuff???I have asked this question in the topic I started about the JP guitar but till now zero reactions(Maybe there are no JP owners on this forum).
I would like to know how the Luke holds in a live situation with the tuning.Do you need to retune after every song, especially when you use the tremelo a lot???

Ekib...

I have the JP. I would say that it won't stay in tune if you use heavy whammy like Mr.Vai did. I tried it already, and all 3 thin strings were out of the pitch. :)

Ekib,
The Luke has locking tuners on it that, I find, keep it in tune really well. The wilk. trem is almost floyd-like, and it has not bucked out of tune on me yet. Hope that helps a little. BTW, the trem on the Luke is not quite as radical as the floyd/lo-pro that vai has, but then again, different vibe to the axe anyway I think.
