Hi.
I was wondering if there's a direct replacement single coil EMG pickup that has as much (or almost as much ) balls as the bridge humbucker.
Its just that the bridge is so much hotter that at a given amp or modeler setting it'll be screaming but switching to the neck pup it kinda dies.
Its not that the neck pup is bad, its just that I'm looking for more of a situation like on the Morse (or much any 2 humbucker guitar) where switching to the neck pup you get a mellower tone but still maintain the sustain factor.
If there is another EMG single coil model available that'll just connect up like the original and is somewhat hotter. I'd like to know if it exists.
Thanks
Jon :)

From what I know...I think that you'll be pulling those EMGs out if you need to balance the output of the neck pickup to that of the bridge. Good ol' high impedence, passive technology will get you what you need! ;)

All the best!

Dude, the single coil EMG's in the Luke are gonna be about as good as you're gonna get.

I've never been too thrilled with EMG single coils, though.

The SA isn't too bad, but I don't think you're gonna find another EMG single that's gonna beat what's already in there.

I'll tell you what, if you find a better one, let me know! I'll be doing some renovations on a few of the guitars hanging around here.

Ah well, I was afraid that that was going to be the case.

Thanks for your input. :)

EMG makes the EXG midrange expander which would probably bring the single coil volume up to the EMG 85 in the rear position. EMG also makes an after burner. I just made a post regarding installing a EMG EXG and SPC in a Luke. The SPC makes the EMG single coil sound like the most tone dripping vintage single coil I have ever heard. The EXG is a midrange boost that makes the single coil louder and much more like a humbucking pick up. Will both these mods fit in the Luke? Anyone know?
Thanks,
