Luke too easy to play???

Yep. I had a customer come in today and I showed him our Luke. He played it for quite some time and told me it played too easy. He's used to Str@ts (when was the last time you played one of those and went "wow!"?) and said the Luke responded to his thoughts rather than his fingers. Couldn't get over it. I found it amusing. I smiled and said "yep".

Dang I want a Luke. The other night I actually dreamed about Dargie Lukes all night long. Some day when I have the cash maybe somebody will part with theirs (Larryandrews???)

My action is so low that my strings buzz a bit on the low side. I'm gonna adjust the saddles a little. I also might switch to 10's, but I can't decide. I kinda like it this way, but it's just different from my ASS and my Les Paul.

There's something special about the Luke at our store. I wouldn't change the string guage if it were mine which is odd. I run at least 11's on everything but I feel it would mess with that particular guitar.

I now have 10's on my Luke and it's feels great.... I put slightly taller frets on there and the guitar is amazing now... I quite literally can't put it down.... this is the only little mod that I did only because I need the firm feel of 10's but still being able to bend the way I like to.... apart from that this guitar is a very special instrument.... I never fail to get remarks on it's tone... I had another Luke years ago... it was again excellent... but this one is unbelievable..

BP..I just raised a couple saddles a kiss, height wise. No way would I "replace them".

I'm gonna continue with 9's for a while to see how stable my tuning is at Eb. I did have to tweak my tuning more than I normally do this weekend, but I forgot to stretch the crap out of the strings. I'm pretty sure they are factory strings. I think I'm going to change them and start over, stretch them a ton, and I should be fine!

I love my Luke. I've played many brands and nothing comes close to the feel and quality. Love it.

Yes, I'm loving mine too. The switching is so dynamic and varied too. It's like having the BEST sounding strat ever really. It's exactly what I wanted. I wanted a "better strat" than I had. This gives me the gain that I want with the HB, but then can clean up nicely, retain it's warmth, and even get nasty if you want.

I'm a rhythm player.. which is why you'll be hard pressed to get me to upload Youtube clips of my playing! And I think this guitar does a fine job for that. I think my ASS is maybe a tad better for chords and chugging than my Luke. The Luke seems to be voiced more for soloing... which makes sense considering it's a Lukather guitar! This isn't a complaint though, as it's a fine rhythm guitar. It's just it's true colors really stand out when soloing.

The Luke is a fantastic, for me, it's the only guitar l use now, it has a whole range of sounds, and feels like it's part of me.

honestly? I kinda get where he's coming from. It's not about which is a better guitar here. It's obvious that the strat is a piece of crap compared to the EBMM. And I have 3 strats. The thing is, strats do challenge the player and puts up quite a bit of a fight. It's challenging to get a good sound from a strat, much less a great one. But when you land a great performance on a strat, it's one of the most satisfying things in the world. It's like you conquered all your own demons.

I tried a luke for the first time last saturday. Guess what? I love it. The neck is nice, though I'm not a huge "V" fan. and the only thing that bugged me was the low frets. But it's still far easier to play and sound great on a luke than a strat.

I think I'll never get rid of my strats. I might not play them as much, but they're always there, challenging me. Everytime I don't want to work so hard to sound good in a band, I bring my JP6. Everytime I'm up for a fight, I bring my strat. I usually lose and get frustrated with the strat, but then again, who said life was easy?

My Carbon Blue Pearl Luke is without a doubt, the best playing guitar I have ever owned. I almost understand someone saying the action is too easy to play. Oddly, it was not so easy to play out of the box. No surprise there. The guitar made a trip from SLO to Chicago and then NY. When I bought it, it sat in it's case for at least 6 months. Then one day I decided that if I wasn't going to play it, I might as well sell it. So I took it out and was compelled to adjust the trem springs (since the trem angle seemed a little severe) and the trem (to get the action down after adjusting the trem springs).

That was it. I hit the sweet spot and the strings are just off the fretboard. Practically no buzz (no low action is completely buzz free). Since then, I haven't had to touch the adjustments. It might even play better than the Pet I sent back to EBMM to be levelled (and Jon did a beautiful job too).

They're great guitars. Probably the best guitar for me. If I had the balls (no pun), I'd pull the EMGs out and put in some passive pickups. Maybe I'll buy a used one that is less than perfect to experiment on.

This thread makes me chuckle, but I too can sorta understand what's been said about "too easy". Some just have and prefer a more heavy handed approach, I s'pose.
