Hey Guys, I was just down at GC today and they had a Luke with the BFR rosewood neck that I played and really liked the feel of. I've also had my eye on a Gold Top Reflex and now I'm having a hard time deciding what I should get. This would be my first MM guitar even though I've admired them for a long time. What are your thoughts on these two guitars? Just so you know my other guitars are a Godin Velocity and a Peavey HP Special CT Custom. Thanks

well for me, the comparison between these two is active pickups vs passive pickups. do you have a preference?

might i suggest one of the reflex gamechagners that are coming out soon? if you don't know about them please search musicman gamechanger on youtube so you can become obsessed with them :)

Well they are totally different guitars. Have you had a chance to play a Reflex yet to see which you like better? The all rosewood neck LUKEs are really fantastic. If you really like the feel of the LUKE and the tone, then you should get it. Check out the specs of each guitar on the music man website. They will both feel completely different in your hands as well. You definitely cannot go wrong with either one, I'll tell you that much. If I had enough money I would have at least one of every model. Variety is good :D.

Both of those are really special guitars. Those rosewood neck Lukes are getting hard to find. They only offered the bfr rosewood neck option for 30 days so as you can imagine there arent that many around. What color is the Luke?

I'd go the Luke. Both would be a great guitar to own. Luke will be harder/near impossible to get down the road (already is).

The Reflex has alot going on with the different tonewoods, chambering, and maple top, so its price should be much higher than the Luke, the BFR neck option was only like $100 more than a standard Luke.

Hey all, the luke that I played was a deep ruby red, not sure of the name. Its darker than they candy red that the offer on the Luke now. I saw someone on here that owns the exact same one. They also had a black one but the dark red one felt better to me.

That would be Cabernet Pearl, a discontinued color, like my Axis Super Sport. Tough choice.

Well you cant go wrong with either one, and looking at the other two guitars you own either new addition will add more versatility to you. If it was me personally I would get the Luke now and then decide on the Reflex when it is available with the Game Changer. The Reflex offers a lot of tonal variations and may be perfect for you as it is, but with all the buzz on it with the Game Changer I would wait the few months till I could check it out so I would not have to say I should of waited.

The RW Luke is discontinued so I guess it would be a good investment, while you have plenty of time to get a Reflex (maybe with the gamechanger)

I'd go for the Luke for sure. Grab that one while you can. Both Luke guitars I've had are amazing. In fact, I think I need to go play my Luke right now.

It's a tough call. One you've played, one u haven't. How's guitar center return policy? Maybe u can buy it and see if it's for you. If not return it use store credit to order up a reflex. Tough call either way ur on ur way to buy an awesome guitar. Good luck and keep u's posted

To me, the neck heel on the Luke is nicer and much more comfortable.

If I was in your shoes today I would get the Luke. You'll "need" another EBMM down the road (because that Luke is so awesome, you'll want more) and at that time look for the Reflex with Game Changer. The math is simple: 2 EBMMs > 1 EBMM > All others.

Thats a real apples to oranges comparison. V vs C shape, HSS vs HH, active vs passive & 2 very different body designs.

I like the Reflex but I’m bias cause I just got me one. :)

Thanks for all the replies and your opinions on the two choices. Today I drove out to a different GC and got a chance to play a Reflex. Wow, what a beautifully crafted guitar. You guys are right about the big difference in necks, the Reflex was comfortable but the Luke's is amazing. The GC return policy is 30 days for credit I believe but I think either way I'll really enjoy either one. I should know in the next week or so what I will end up with and I'll keep you updated with pics. On a side note, if I order one from them in the color that I want, are birdseye necks still available or a roasted neck an option?
