When the Luke's are shipped from the factory are they shipped with 9's or 10's. I was just curious.

Currently running with 10-46 (Reg Slinkys') on my Axis,
10-52 (Skinny Top Heavy Bottom) on the Silo Spec
11-52 (Beefy Slinky) on my Albert Lee.

Man if your left hand can take the tension, heavier gauges do seem to give the guitar a real chime to the tone. I was running my Les Paul Junior on 13-56 but that is a bit too rich for my blood............

So i shouldn't have too file the nut for the bigger gauge string, correct ?? Or does that new compensated nut fix that problem so you don't have to file ?? I'm just curious, because this is the first guitar i have owned with that new style nut on it.

I use 10/46 Ernie Ball on both, my Luke and my Axis SS, tone is so much better, and 9/42 are really too thin for me.

Whatever blows your skirt up guys. I use 10's sometimes when I tune down a 1/2 step. Its all personal. I dont like shredding my callouses playin everynight and there a few things that the 9's will do with harmonics that the 10's wont do for ME..but for YOU it might be a different thing all together as everyones personal "touch" is different. Your taste for a feel of the strings is as well.
I am just glad to see such positive feedback on the guitars!!!!!!
Please enjoy and have a great day.

Now that's COOL, feedback from the MAN himself !!! I also use 10's when tuning 1/2 step down, the only thing i do different is i use custom light's for 440 tunings. I just didn't know if i would have too file the nut too accomidate the 10's on the low E, A and D, but with the help of the AWSOME people on this board i have found that fileing will not be necessary. I had the chance too play one of your signature guitars a few years back and have wanted one ever since then, and Finally i've got one on order !!! I'm looking forward too hearing your new record this fall. You rock Luke !!!!
