Lunch Report July 28

Hey guys
Haven't posted for awhile just been too busy.
Hows the summer going for you ?

Lunch : Chicken, rice, assorted seasonal fruit, juice and coffee

Music listening to currently "The Darkness"
-which I didn't realize that one of our regular posters' (Tim O' ) band from across the pond does an awesome cover of "A Thing Called Love" which I prefer over The Darkness version.

Summer time usually people are either really busy with work or work slows right down. Some bands get most of their gigs this time of year.
Myself, things are really slow and looking forward to taking family camping for a couple of weeks.

What is everyone doing for the summer ?

Working, practicing for the fall gigging season, hitting the beach about every weekend. You know, the usual shore/coastal stuff we do in the summer!

Summer's Ok....Moved, got new tubes, ordered a Silo, got my DG JP6 back (Thanks Jon).

lunch: turkery and cheeken on multigrain bread with mustard (the deli kind) garnished with a slice o' chez.

The lyrics just seem "creepy" when justin Hawkins sings it.

Hey guys, long time no post.

Been writing a little, practicing a bit, and have actually been trying to sing. Yikes.

Band practice has a been a bit spotty, but we continue to plug away without a name.

Been listening to Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" a lot lately...not particularly interesting guitar, but great songwriting.

Planning to have a slice of pizza for lunch...

The trough for lunch met my high protein dietary needs. Last night I played for a couple of hours and it sounded like I hadn’t played for a couple of weeks. I need more TOI (time on instrument) The silos are the best.

Steve Morse is still in my car CD player. Listening to and learning his music has kept me from exploring cultural diversity. That's a good thing.

Hey Gang!

Just checking in on the boards, and lunch is served. Today was a beef sandwich and a can of Dr Pepper, do the USA posters on here get the terrible "whats the worst that can happen?" ad campaign?

Over the weekend, I redecorated my home studio with new wallpaper and carpet but with all the dust and new carpet fibres getting in my lungs, my immune system has totally crapped out on me, and I'm hacking and coughing like an old Honda 125. It also means that all my gear is currently spread all over my house. Who else would use their Peavey 5150 as a stool to type at their PC?

If you know the saga of my band, the update is that we had a new singer for 2 weeks then he quit because he wanted to do something more quiet. Oops. Luckily, one of my best friends in the world said he wanted to have a go at singing for us, and it turns out he has a pretty decent voice. I really had no idea. Plus he was a fan of the music when our last full-time singer was ruining it for the rest of the band... We've got our first rehearsal on Thursday with him and I'm hoping he works out. I figured we'd be about 2 months away from gigging again. And we wouldn't be stuck with an sociopath or a liar for a singer for the first time in all our musical history!

I've also been stockpiling some new tunes for the band, so once the studio is back together, I'll be demoing those up. Summer will be busy. Wish me luck!

Lunch (yesterday) was Quiznos - special because I ate it with my daughter who lives in Philly and is "home" for a couple weeks. She arrived here a couple days ahead of schedule so I kissed off work to pick her up and get her settled in her step-sister's room (who's off to the Atlantic coast with a back pack and her Girl Guides troup for a week)... Anyway, the house doesn't feel so empty now, and in another four or five days we'll have all three kids together and be chasing whales across the Bay of Fundy.

My current band situation is that I'm playing with three different projects, including my regular two casual, party-band groups I've been working with a while now... The third bunch is a group with a less-than-reliable guitarist who I've stood in for on occasion. Now the singer and bassist want to oust the problem guitarist and bring me in full time but the drummer's resisting (this guitar player's his friend) and the other guitarist is non-commital, so I'm just sitting back and waiting to see what will happen...

I've been listening to Neil Zaza's Staring At The Sun since it arrived in the mail last week - great CD! Also Roy Buchanan's Sweet Dreams and the Beatles Anthology volumes...
