I would like to know the names of famous Bass Players who use a M/M Sterling HS. I own one, love it, and would like to check them out and check out there sound and techniques. Anyone know of who using the Sterling HS? Thanks......

Thanks for your intellegent response

You mean "intelligent".

Um, really, "Phatduckk" is not only a member (and moderator) here, but he also is a dedicated Sterling guy and plays them all over the punk scene in San Francisco.

The other guy that answered your question is Sterling Ball. I'm going to bet that if there were a real answer, a truly famous person playing a Sterling HS in front of thousands of adoring fans, he might know who that was.

Really, relax. We try to have fun around here.

Have you seen this yet? It definitely answers your questions. Ed is a nationally recognized player, teacher and smart man who also does the best damn video instrument demos period. (imho)

it's true - I'm real :) but, unfortunately I'm not a rich & famous celeb or anything but people here know me. I have been waving the HS Sterling banner from day 1. I was actually the first person to ever order one.

I don't have any audio or video footage of me w/ that bass but I can try and describe my sound.

I usually go for a bright tone. More or less - amp flat, bass flat + stainless steal strings. I'm around the bass forums enough to know this isn't the most popular tone out there but I love it.

Recently I've been boosting the bass a bit and not keeping things 100% flat. I kinda wanna have my cake and eat it too. I can play high note runs and cut thru & have a nice boom when I'm back on the fat strings and lower registers.

My "public" (aka in my band(s)) technique is punk rock based. I play fast. It gets little to no respect w/ Jazz lovers & most bass entusiasts but I dont care... that's my means to having fun. + it fits my band's music. However at home im almost exclusively play finger style w/ some slap & tapping stuff thrown in.

I find the HS sterling perfect for me. The single H position gets me all the aggressive tone I need. The second position gets you that single coil bridge burp, the 3 coils clean up and get nice & poilte, the 4th position cops a great active J tone w/ MM flavor & the single coil solo'd gets the P bass thing going when you use the on board EQ.

All in all it's the only bass I need... but, of course, I have a ton more.

Well, just HOW famous ? Is "locally notorious" famous enuf ?
Cuz I notoriously play two Sterling HS FL4's. One is stock and
the other has a Moses neck.

Maybe I meant "notoriously local" ......

I'm not famous :D ...but I was the 1st owner of one HS 5 banger, ...unfortunately in this recession time at the moment over here in Europe I couldn't afford myself having a two great basses, so I sold it! :(

Thank God, ...I still have my reflex (it goes to grave with me :D ) so I can earn money with it, and save some for new EBMM! :)
