Last year they gave us Cobalt wrap, now we have M-Steel for plain strings and core wires! As an ex-scientist, I LOOOVE to see innovation in the guitar market and I'm thrilled the EB are forging ahead with new materials for strings. Even more choice for guitarists! I can't wait to try these out!!

Bass strings too?

Any word on them making flat-wound bass strings? Not that I have breakage issues; just looking for another option to the Thomastik JF44s I have played exclusively for 10+ years.

They'll do it if they think enough people will buy them and they'll announce it if they do. Until then you've got the usual choice of EB bass strings, including flats (chrome plated steel over a hex core, more mellow sounding than standard Slinky Bass strings)...

Hey Pete, do you know how much the M-Steel strings will be going for? Will they be the same price as the Cobalts? Also, what string is louder, the Cobalt's or M-Strings?
Thanks,
Jay

Jay they are a couple dollars more than the cobalts but it isn't a huge difference. They are also "rps" if I remember Angelo correctly. The plain strings on the m-steel are noticeably louder than regular plain strings, along with having a full-bodied sound while the plain strings sound thin in comparison.

The differences between the core wires of the wound strings are not as obvious as the plain strings but they are still there.
