Just got a new Mesa Roadster head and 2x12 cab. First head/cab I've ever owned. Picked it up at lunch, couldn't wait to get home at 6 to setup......unpack everything, set it up.....read, ok skim through manual.....eat dinner(had to or mrs francric gets mad).......plug in JP6.......turn it on.........no sound:confused: dummy, didn't connect head and cab......wait a second, WTF, no cable included:mad: arrrrh........picks up head and launches it out the back door in the pond........just kidding........should it have come with one??? Why didn't they tell me at the store I would need one. I'm going to get me a clerk tomorrow........better yet, I'm going to get koogs after the clerk:mad: ;)

Do yourself a favor and buy a good speaker cable instead of the throw in you're likely to receive from the clerk. It'll be safer in the long run and probably give you better tone as well. Cables are nothing to go cheap on.

Yeah get yourself a high quality speaker cable, more than likely they will give you a cheap cable, but l make sure l've got extra cables, cause there will be nothing worse than being in your position.

So you guys are saying they (Mesa) do not include the cable???? unbelievable.......

That's not what I was saying. I don't know if they do. Whether they do or not, I doubt it will be of the caliber I would want to use on that expensive piece of equipment. If they are giving you a mediocre cable, why use it anyway? Just spend some extra dough and get a good cable. I know Marshall includes cables with their heads but the quality is such that I would never trust it.

I personally think it would be a good idea if high end manufacturers did not include a speaker cable and forced you to have to research the things and buy one of decent quality.

SPEAKING FROM 100% experience buy a Monster Pro Speaker Cable... It took my tone from being good to great... it's worth the $40 or so bucks... this is probably going to be the best thing you can do for yourself... and I like the cable so much i'm going to drop the $150 for my instrument cable...

When you're dependant on your tone it's worth the money to sound good!

Im Begging... you wont regret it...

Ah, point taken.......what do you consider a quality cable?

I also use the Monster Pro Speaker Cable. Never had an issue and it really did give me an improvement in tone as well.

Two Rock makes some seriously wicked cables too - but those are waaaayyyyy expensive!

I will never buy anything buy Monster Pro from here on out...
It's a 3ft cable that is 24k gold 1/4 jacks and white pearl ends with a fabric wrapped cable... it's very solid and i noticed the tonal improvement instantly...

If they don't have them depending on where you're at I can pick one up and ship it out...

It's so worth every red cent...

Just got a new Mesa Roadster head and 2x12 cab......wait a second, WTF, no cable included........should it have come with one???

Considering the quality of product that comes from the Mesa company, I assume that a proper (and "quality") speaker cable was originally included with the head and that the store nabbed that cable when it came out of the box. I've not recieved anything but quality service and down-to-earth human interaction when dealing with Mesa reps. That being said, I believe that they do things properly. I could be wrong.

Who knows? Maybe there isn't a speaker cable included because they assume that the consumer is going to buy a different one, anyway? I have no idea though, this is my guess.

Some companies don't include a footswitch with their amps.

But l've never had a speaker cable included when l buy an amp, l've always had to ask for one, it's crap, cause it sucks cause you get home and set it up, then you realize that there's no cable, then you have to go back to the shop get one, all the while you are desperate to crank your new amp. But a speaker cable is just one of those things you just forget about, it's like a power cable, l don't know how many times l've turned up to band practise and forgot to pack a power cable, now my bag is full of them.

has anyone or does anyone know someone who has used the Monster Cable power cable? They have the three versions... Pro 1000, 500, and 200 ($99,$49, $29: respectively) I've seen how much the speaker cable changed my tone and MONSTER is claiming that this improves tone as well... anyone in the know how?

I’m surprised to hear that a speaker cable has such an effect on tone. I have a few different ones and never noticed a difference. I’m presently using EB’s and am very satisfied with them: clearly marked + and 0, limber/easy to store, and heavy gauge wire, quality end connectors. What else does a speaker cable require?

One thing scared the hell out of me from Francric’s first post: I hope you didn’t have the amp on without the speaker cable hooked to your cab for very long. Fastest way to blow your tube amp.

I'm always interested in this area being a bit of a hi-fi buff as well where such things are discussed long and hard into the night!

One small point, if you go to the trouble and expense of buying a very high quality instrument cable, make sure all of the interconnects between your pedals etc are of the same quality, otherwise you might as well not bother.

I'm always amazed when I see people with fancy cables between their instrument and theis pedal board, and then they have those ultra cheap plastic molded connectors between pedals.

D'oh!:D

Alright Frank, enough whining about the damn cables... :D kidding bud! Let's hear about the amp!!! How's that thing sound?!?!?!

I'm picturing a cross between the RoadKing and the LoneStar but that's just a wild ass guess on my part.

And I'm thinking that with the amount of change you drop on a Mesa it should include a decent cable. I'd be pissed too...

Candid I'm in agreement with you, I've been using EB cables and can't justify spending $100 for a "monster" cable.
