Hi guys.

I saw there is other thread for the gig case, but I wanted to ask specifically for one for taking the Majesty 7 on a plane, as cabin luggage (not checked-in luggage). Does anyone have experience with this?

I am planning to order online, so if anyone has a specific model that fits well this guitar, it would be great.

Also, any suggestions for a strap?

Thanks!!

Dont have an answer to this but I'd like to muddy the waters a little. Would anyone be uncomfortable with a back-angled headstock in a gig bag on an aircraft?

Not in my Mono case - has as good, or better, headstock protection than a hardshell case. Would take an elephant sitting on it to break the headstock.

Here's a link to their guitar case offerings: Products - Guitar / Bass Cases - MONO

I got the double bag and then added "the tick" (for pedals, cables, etc.) and it's heavy but worth it.

Kevin

P.S. - Just to be clear, I have no financial interest in this recommendation - am just a happy customer of theirs, which is what this is all about, right? :)

The problem (for me) with Mono gig bags and similar style gig bags is that they kind of defeat the purpose of a gig bag... It's like, they're bigger than a normal, well padded gig bag (which makes them clumsier) but they still don't offer the same protection that a hard case does (IMO). I normally use the Music Man gigbag (which is the same as the SBMM gig bag) for taking my Majesty to rehearsal. It's really well made and well padded. However, I don't know if I'd use it to take my guitar on a plane... I suppose I would and I'd be EXTRA careful, maybe because of what DrKev said about the angled headstock.

I have a Mono M80 gigbag, and although it is in fact a bit clumsy, I really like it, as I find it solid enough that it would take a big hit to damage the instrument. With that said, I use it with either my Axis or my Charvel Super Strat, and bolt-on guitars like these with straight headstocks are really solid and durable.

Hi all, thanks for the input.

My options are to either send it with the hard case on the hold luggage, or to get a soft case and carry it with me. To me, it sounds like carrying it with me is a better option, or is there something I'm missing?

Also, what strap would you suggest? The DiMarzio ones seem interesting, though I've never tried them myself.

Thanks ;)

True that a high end gig bag is bulkier than a regular gig bag - but the "look" of even a high end gig bag is such (with contoured shoulders) that I don't get crap from the flight attendants when carrying it on - as opposed to a big black solid rectangle of a hard shell case.

The fact that my Mono case holds TWO guitars is just over the top! :)

I have 2 Mono 80 Gig Bags for my Majesty and my JPXI they're built to take a beating.

All my guitars are equipped with DiMarzio Click Straps best straps available. I've been using them for 10 Years never had a problem.
