I have never wanted to love a guitar more than my Majesty 6 - it's absolutely gorgeous in person (seriously, that Amaranth color is so much more unique and beautiful than I was expecting based on photos), the feature set is fantastic, and it's honestly been a dream guitar for me since it first launched. But try as I might, even though I've had my Majesty for almost a month I can't overlook these things that just aren't quite working out for me:
  1. My Majesty is quite neck heavy. I only play sitting down these days, and I've noticed I'm battling a fair amount of neck dive while playing. It honestly feels like the okoume wings in the body are just too lightweight to counteract the weight of the whole neck-through neck. Still, I'm sort of surprised because I was under the impression that neck-through construction does a lot to prevent neck dive? (I could be wrong though.) My Majesty is 6.5 lbs - would finding a heavier one help with balance?
  2. The neck seems to sit really, really low in my lap compared to every other guitar I own (I normally play with the guitar sitting on my right leg). Even my tiny Strandberg somehow sits higher. The neck angle in my lap also ends up really low - either at 0º or less if it starts tilting to the floor. It really puts a lot of strain on my lower back compared to my other guitars. Has anyone else run into this? Not sure if it's all a consequence of the neck dive or not.
  3. I can't seem to stabilize the guitar body when playing - both the neck and body flop around a lot while I play, despite my best efforts to pin them down. As a result I seem to play noticeably worse on my Majesty than on my other guitars. I'm not sure if its because of the smaller body size, the shape, the contouring, or something else, but I know I don't have this problem with any of my other guitars. I know using a strap would help, but I can't use one for the foreseeable future.
  4. Even though the Amaranth Majesty comes in a satin finish, the neck feels stickier than I expected. It's not as much friction as gloss to me, but it's not that far off. I got it brand new from a store that keeps their guitars in the case in a warehouse, so it's not play wear.
  5. The pickups seem really dark. I knew they'd be pretty warm, but these are suuuuper dark. Does that sound about right? Not sure if it's time to replace the batteries already.
All in all, although my Majesty is beautiful and the build quality is stunning, I'm just finding that it's by far my most uncomfortable guitar to play sitting. I can totally imagine this being comfy to play standing though, but that's just not how I play these days.

Did I just get unlucky with my particular unit? Or does it seem like maybe the Majesty isn't a good fit for me and I should maybe trade it for the JP15 or something?
Thanks everyone!

(This isn't anything against EBMM of course - I have a Sabre that I am absolutely in love with.)
