Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and a new MM user, having played Ibanez for 10 years before switching to MM exclusively because of the Majesty guitar. Anyway, I have a couple of questions about the Majesty guitar that I'm hoping someone from EBMM can address. In the thread from a few months back titled "here is the majesty", BP made the following comment:

"It has a gamechanger in it and is set to just be a switch but as we introduce the gc incrementally you can activate if you choose but it is not manditory. The guitar has been voiced by di marzio and we have done sonic thumbprint matching....I will tell you about it someday."

I've been catching up on recent thread activity today and understand that because of the poor choice of words from a certain forum user who is now banned, questions on the GC technology in the Majesty guitar may be a bit of a sore spot at the moment on this forum. That said, I'm still curious about the GC tech as well as the idea of sonic thumbprint matching in the Majesty guitar. Is the long term plan to have full GC capabilities in the Majesty guitar, or is there something else in the works? What is sonic thumbprint matching and what kind of features does this afford me as a player? I get that this is a guitar built for JP to make him happy, just trying to maximize what I know about the guitar and consequently what I can do with the guitar since I'm now a Majesty owner and player as well.

Hi Nick, all questions are welcome so long as the discussion is respectful (why the last thread went off the rails).

I can't answer for MM as to future plans, but from what Sterling has said, there aren't any plans to offer expanded GC functionality in the Majesty guitar.

Being JP's guitar, it's up to JP if he wants to have additional features or functionality in the future. Right now, he wants quicker-than-mechanical switching, so that's what's offered.

Welcome Nick!
First off- this post was very well written/communicated. ..
Thank you for that! This could easily be a great 'sample post'

I did a lot of research on the maj before I got one (like you...)
And there were a few conflicting statements between posting here and a few youtubes...but I didn't find it too hard to gather the facts.
Valid questions. .. I'd really suggest calling customer service if you want a straight answer rather than lots of interweb speculation though...
Then report back! :)

So, these kinds of discussions frequently come up when a new guitar is introduced (conflicting opinions on a new model, or confusion as to what features are offered).

On this board, we're fortunate to get the inside scoop as new things are being developed, a direct result of Sterling Ball participating in this forum. It's been said many times, but you won't find a lot of forums like this where the company CEO participates so openly (and speaks honestly without a filter).

Because so many of these things are a labor of love (as opposed to a labor of the marketing department), we get snippets of a design in progress, in testing, etc. The upside is we all get to participate in the excitement and feel included. The downside is that things are subject to change (without our approval), so not everything in development makes it into the final model. Like the GC functionality, in this case.

That's why these threads can get so heated. Everyone is passionate, as a result of hearing about the details as the instruments progress.

Anyhow, I'll leave the advanced GC questions to the experts.

OK Here is the story and its crazy. WE made JP the guitar of his dreams. WE have communicated all along teasers...direct information...we were very clear....Devin you knew this.....Brian Ball did a video at the namm show and misspoke about what was in the guitar....Thats it... Devin please stop....that video didnt help anything. Once again The gamechanger is there for jp and switching......there are plans to slowly integrate features as john finds them desirable.

Here is the story....and that guy with the lefty comment....please stop now. It isnt funny and we are giving lefties a chance to own a limited production guitar

No company includes you in the process like we do and it is no good deed goes unpunished....

The funny thing is the most insensitive posters are the most sensitive when they get it back.

When they insult all of us and go nuts then they try to pm me....one of the only things I ask people not to....SO they ignore that and bug me on the weekends....Even though the box is always full i get an email alert.

I ordered the Majesty and didn't care about all this...

While I undesrstand the concern (I thought it would have X, now it has Y) I feel many issues about the GC technology have distracted us from the beauty and playability of the Majesty.

You can't have it all, and that's what I love about choosing...the GC is there available for everyone if its "that" critical for your sound. I certainly feel like if the Mejsety had the GC tech it would confuse me and I would not use it...

We must keep raving about the important stuff and stop dwelling so much about the details. Everywhere you look for the GC tech on the Majesty, BP has been very clear about it.

JP has the last word. And I love that a company respects the artist to this level. It shows compromise and pride for crafting a true signature guitar. That's what I think is the coolest...you get the guitar the artist designed and developed with MM. No more, no less. And the thought that such a great player as John is playing th same axe that you can hold in your paws, is a triumph.

Thanks.

With absolutely no snark in my tone I ask everyone: If you want a gamechanger, why don't you buy a gamechanger? It's good enough for Dean Wells and he's 10 times the player I am. (Let me check my math on that...)

I know I tend to stir the pot a little around here, but it's all in good faith; the $10k worth of EBMM guitars I have sitting in my apartment testifies to that, not to mention the ones I have planned.

Truth is, with a company staffed by humans, nothing can be a 'maxim' and mistakes get made. People who defend EBMM in the GC full-functionality debacle are wrong in saying "it's JP's guitar so that's the way it is," and I've been wrong in expecting utter infallibility from EBMM.

In truth, the GC's functionality is not a big deal to me one way or the other; I'll still keep buying EBMMs, despite the (arguably well-deserved) antagonism I get by some on this board (Mods & CEOs in particular). But overall I think it's pretty clear I want to help and encourage others, as well as share in their mirth after acquiring a new EBMM axe, even though I can come across as snarky or rude (the perception of which I apologize for, but not the content). So, Big Poppa, even though you may not like or respect me, I'll continue to pay for your house, your car, and as many black T-shirts as you could possibly wear :) - It's okay, I know you don't think I'm funny; no one does, but I laugh at myself and that's enough.

I think this is one of those things that comes down to a win/win for EBMM and the rest of us any way you slice it. The passion of EBMM players and collectors is igniting debate; and that's what is gonna get MORE people interested, and ultimately move more guitars, which will enable EBMM to make more guitars, which I will then buy.

The circle of life - it moves us all.

Cheers!

Oh for **** sake. Not again. Enough we're all fed up.

This Majesty-GC thing was brought up months ago, explained and here we explaining it all over again. And again.

Decreebass can't play nicely with the other kids and has been excluded. Dress it up in a sense of humour and enthusiasm if you like but people see a pushy, disrespectful, pain in the ass.

"...but I laugh at myself and that's enough."

No. It's not. Not by a long way. We've had too many complaints from other forum members. We're done.

thanks I have done this my whole adult life Im here 7 days a week and somehow there is a perception that you can freely admit to being "snarky or rude" and then complain about "antagonism". Ten times I have said that you dont have to be rude to get attention...just ask the question and Ill answer....Ill respond in kind....

Saying that being rude and funny in your mind is good for the forum and creates lively exchanges really isnt your job. We werent advertising for a **** stirrer. This is my favorite quote from the banned that guy "People who defend EBMM in the GC full-functionality debacle are wrong in saying "it's JP's guitar so that's the way it is," Guess what how long would I be able to make tools for artists WITHOUT a contract if I didn't deliver what they wanted?

I dont have to be here....other CEO's would rather lick hot pavement than to be subjected to the constant second guessing , micromanaging and open shots of a rare few here. Its the same...they come in say something rude....get a unfavorable response and then call everybody else brown nosers....Im tired of it. God I wish that ten thousand at retail which I appreciate would pay for anything I know that it buys guitars but it doesnt buy me having to take repeated insults in the name of humor or stimulus....guitar building most years is a total wash if not a loss....Things like the Majesty will make sure that I can keep the doors open....for the 30th year. Man name the companies that have made electric guitars and basses for 30 years....
