Question Majesty: How do YOU use the +20db feature?

I’ve been experimenting with the +20db feature. When I plug it in to my Carvin Legacy 3 amp, it’s very apparent on the clean channel. The pot on the back is turned all the way up. However when I switch to the high gain channel, there’s almost no difference.

That makes sense to me as on that channel, I have the gain way up which naturally clips the signal to get that nice lush overdrive.

I had hoped to be able to punch up my leads in a live setting using this feature.

Curious to know how other people use this feature at home or in a live setting. Feel like I'm missing something.

I find the boost certainly is more noticeable on the clean channel. I find the boost on the dirt channel to add more sustain vs "volume boost" like the cleans.

Crunch your clean, sustain your already driven sound.

It's like having an overdrive pedal to crunch your clean sound.

As far as high-gain liquid sounds are concerned, personally, I never use it. The pickups are SO blazing scorching that I don't really find any purpose to boost them even more.

I know this is an older thread now but I’ve been thinking about this recently. In over five years of owning a Majesty, I have never found a reason to use the boost. What am I missing? Is there a “good” way to use it?

Yes, but like the OP, on distorted tones I hear no real difference, and on clean tones it just sounds dirty. If it were a true volume boost with no change to tone it would be ace, but the way it currently works I see no real purpose.

It depends how you set your amp.

I use the boost on my Luke regularly, but it's on a dirty-but-not-super-saturated channel, to put it over the top for solos.

I do use the boost from my Luke’s every day and I don’t want to miss that feature.
Give the clean sound some crunch, or I choose it for liquid solo stuff. And I can engage it wherever I’m on stage.

On my Majesty Monarchy, I use the 20DB boost primarily when using the coil tap on a clean setting. Since a lot of the volume is lost with the coil tap, the boost brings that back up. This makes me appreciate the split so much more

Aside from that, I use it the standard way - mainly to add sustain to leads on a distorted channel

Overall the feature is amazing. Since I am not a pedal guy, I don't know how I could live without it!
